Sniping at Ebay and ofc just bidding 0.99$ and hope for the best.....

I started of by buying the AoBR set on a store and selling the marines on e-auction.
I got 20 boys, 5 Nobs 3 Koptas and 1 Warboss for about 15$.

Ebay´d another 4 sets of 20 Boys for about 7 bucks each + shippment: 32 $
Ebay´d 5 more Nobs for 0.99+shippment: 3$
Found a bargin for 3 sets of "Lottas" for 0.99$, yea thats right Lottas... no wonder noone found them in the wrong category and miss-spelled name.... 12 Lootas for 8$
Ebay´d 55 sets of shoota arm: 27,5$ not cheap.... but I needed them.....

Then I completed 10 Nobs, 1 Warboss, 3 Koptas, 2*29 Shoota boys and 29 sluggas, 12 Burnas (remainig boys+ leftovers from the Lootas kit), 12 Lootas, 2 big shootas and 1 Mek.

Then some more ebay´ing... 3 metal Nobs with PK (10$), 1 Dread (12$), 3 Wartrakks (18$), 3 Zzap Guns (15$), 1 Big Mek with KFF (7$), Warphead (6$), GHAZGHKULL THRAKKA (8$) and a painboy (3$)

Then actually had to buy the battlewagon and the grotz at a swedish webshop (but they are quite cheap): BW:40$, 2* new grotz: 22$.
I also got some ammo runts and grot orderly and a squig for another 10$.

Thats 177 models (+rulebook, templates and some dices)... for 226 bucks + paint and glue and GS ofc..... Took me 5 months, the shipping time and waiting for ending of auctions made a steady inflow of models so I never felt overworked.....

Sorry but I have to dissapoint you... a quick flick will not do it.. (maybe for the AoBR boys, theres many of them), for the real bargins I have spent hours and hours hunting for them..... Many, many "almost got it"...... I am not the only sniper on ebay apparently : )

i know, managed to get my vermin lord cheap last time as it was under drawf catagory 0_o

You have shown everyone that even though its an expensive hobby, it is possible to field a large army at a reasonable budget. I hope you enjoy playing with your orks, I know I do. Great find on the lottas too!

$40 is around £25 ish now i think, so save myself £10 / $16 ish

Nice write up. One of the keys to finding deals on e-bay is patience. Keep working at the auctions you want for the price point you want. If that means losing the first 3-4 you bid on, then fine. You can also find deals on larger lots that fewer people want, if you're willing to break it up and trade the unneeded parts to other people.

I also find that bidding on multiple auctions from the same person gives me a little pricing advantage as the shipping is a sunk cost from the first win, so the cost of subsequent auctions can be substantially lower than everyone else.

Its a swedish web-shop for all kinds of games. www.gamemaniacs.se, they have some info regarding international shippment at the bottom of the main-page

Note that they have free shipping every december (even for pre-orders), and that is ofc when I bought my BW : ) The BW is 319 swedish kronor, roughly 40$ at an exchange rate of 1/8.

This thread was an inspiration. I did some ebay searches for easy mis-spellings of stuff I might want. Especially interesting given I'm collecting Vampire Counts...
