AS TOLD BY MY
IG OPPONENT FREDDIE.
Here was my list.
3 heralds of khorne
2x7 horrors
1x8 horrors
2x5 Bloodcrushers
1x2 Daemon princes
MOT, Wings, Iron hide, U.Might
Seriously i wrote this list so many times i feel like it was a penmanship class.
mission was the same as above, with 4 objectives...i give the demons first turn...and held back the sentinels and jungle fighters in reserve...the ratlings and veterans infiltrate to better positions...
Turn 1 Daemons
2 heralds, 1 unit of horrors, 1 unit of bloodcrushers, plus the daemon prince arrive...the blood crushers take 1 wound after falling in a crater, and horror shooting kills 2 guardsmen
The daemons arrive
positions of the 7th galen
Turn 1
IG
The veterans move out of cover to get into range of shooting, and the conscripts move to cover the front, while the rough riders get ready to assault any of the daemons in the leading positions..
Shooting was terrific (my best turn!) as 6 horrors and 1 herald are killed, and the other reduced to 2 wounds, which was promptly destroyed in
HTH by the assaulting rough riders..the riders consolidate and spread out in order to act as a "speed bump" for the daemons...
The guardsmen take a heavy toll on the leading elements of the first wave of daemons
Turn 2 daemons
More daemons arrive from the warp..a horror squad ends up right on 1 objective, another has a mishap and ends up delayed, and the last blood crusher plus a daemon prince come in....the demon prince (or was it a herald?) moves forward to assault the rough riders, and first blood crusher unit rushes forward to join the frontline...
Shooting has the horrors killing the veterans, who promtply flee, the herald (or demon prince) assaults and kills the rough riders, and moves forward towards the other guardsmen...
the second waves emerges from the warp
the daemons cause carnage in hand to hand combat!
Turn2
IG
In a wave of incredible rolling, the entire reserves outflank on the rear end of the daemons table (this turns out to be a huge and decisive mistake, as they spend the next 2 turns being effectively out of battle, whereas if they came out the opposite end I could have used them to support the baseline to stem the charge of the daemons). The
IG command squads again move forward ready to assault the daemons if necessary, and the rest hunker down to shoot at the chaos monsters...the veterans continue to flee
Shooting wipes out the last remaining horrors of the first wave, 3 blood crushers of the second wave are reduced to just 2 models by combined guard shooting, and the herald/demon prince reduced to just 1 wound!
The guardsmen outflank! (but can they affect the battle?)
