I have been going back and forth on whether or not to attend. So some questions need answering.

1. Is there open gaming all weekend? 40k to be specific.

2. Can I walk around the tourney area and watch tourney action?

I don't necessarily need to play 40k to have good time. I can enjoy the sights and discussions for a day or two. Sounds like a good time and I'm within 4 hour drive of Chicago.

Deathwing 21W-7L-6D Overall x4 Best General x1 Best Appearance x3, 19th place Adepticon 40k Champs.
Space Wolves 2W-0L-1D Best Painted x1

Busy somewhere, airin' out the skin jobs.

If you can afford the weekend....DEFINATLY attend!

1. You'd be better off to hit the tournements, gladiator friday, championship sunday but there is defiatly something to do at all times. Open gaming AFTER tournement on the tournement tables is easy enough to find games. The hall should be open VERY late.

(check the schedule on the adepticon site for what tournements are availiable on what days. Tournements themselves are reasonably priced. Its the plane ticket and hotel room that cost people.)

2. ABSOLUTELY! There are no restrictions on walking around looking at armies and watching games. (just dont bother me with silly questions while I'm stomping Bill Kim into the dirt! )

You should go. Bring your army, think about signing up for at least 1 tournement just to make sure you dont get bored and you actually have a purpose there. There are plenty of seminars to attend, and the "after hours" comeraderie and chilling out will be worth the 4 hour drive alone.

I have never failed to seize on 4+ in my life!

As to #1, we're in a new venue this year; I don't know what surplus space is available. (Saturday is generally pretty darn full, what with 384 people in the 40k team tournament, plus the WHFB Championship going on.) Hopefully muwhe will be along to provide space insight.

As to #2, yes...with a caveat. The Team Tourney ends up being extremely crowded (4 people to a table, every table in use); getting around becomes difficult, and people may be a little protective of what personal space they retain.

Even if you don't want to join in the various tournaments, their are a bunch of really great seminars, and a bunch of free "demo" style events. Have you read through the schedule? See especially the "free" events every day.

AS the others have said, while there is open gaming, with most people either attending seminars, or playing in the tournaments, actually finding opponents can be difficult.

Just enter the tournament. You'll be assured of a number (3 or 4, depending on which one) of good games.

There's always open gaming going on, as well as various demos being run for various games, which I highly advise you to check out and participate in.

Is my memory correct?

Did you play the Harly Gravtank army at GD Chicago last year?

See you there, I'll be the one accepting the Overall Trophy for winning the Championship with my Grey Knights. (hey, I can dream can't I?)

As has already been stated. Should be plenty of open gaming space all weekend. The amount of space available greatly depends on the schedule and during "peak" times space will tighten up. ( Mainly Saturday)

We got a commitment to providing some open gaming all weekend long ... I would just make sure if you have any questions about setting up a game .. to ask one of the Staff.

- Hope to see you there and make sure to stop by and say hello...
