Are the rims of the shoulder pads supposed to be gold or yellow. Chest Eagle?

If you went to a tournament and played with a Blood angels painted space marine army but used the rules and force organization chart of "Codex: Space Marine" would it matter? Or would people piss and moan about how I should play my own codex?

I ask because I have a blood angels painted army(No Death company or Mephiston, just regular force organiztion from "codex: Space Marines" but I play "C:SM" and people give me crap about it. Thats why I am thinking of going to Genesis Chapter.

Input would be much appreciated! =D Thanks!

I'm sure someone is always going to be there to complain about something. There's nothing stopping you from playing "Red Space Marines" that use the Marine codex for all of its rules. As long as you don't mix and match special rules from different codices, it should be fine.

If you really have doubts about it, check with the TO. If he gives it the nod, then no one has the right to stop you from using it.

If people give you crap about playing your army the way you want to, then I think you need to hang around new people.

I play by only codex: space marines rules thats why I dont understand why people get upset. its just the paint scheme and fluff that I liked, not their codex.

Thanks for your input

Yeah camcam

I agree - no problem whatsoever playing blood angels with a C:SM list.

Enjoy your figures and fluff as is!

Just remember guideline for GT's: If your army is painted like blood angels WITH BA symbols, then you have to use BA rules. If your army is painted like blood angels but without symbols or using symbols from another chapter, then you're good. Basically your opponent shouldn't look at your army and see a chapter whose rules you aren't using. At your local RTT this may not apply, but the tournament scene in general usually sticks close to the GT's in areas like this (Legal lists, points limits, forgeworld etc.)

It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. I'm not familiar with any such guideline. Also, with GW's increased use of "Counts As", there should be no reason why marines painted red can't use the C:SM. They are space marines after all. The only time it may be "problematic" is if he uses death company with jump pack models as devastators or something. Aside from that, can you not tell that a tac squad is a tac squad?

Well I can't find it in this year's GT packet. I assumed that it hadn't changed. How silly of me.

And granted a tac squad is a tac squad, but between BA and Nilla marines, an assault squad is not an assault squad. Be clear to your opponent that you are NOT using BA rules. The guideline was there to keep people from 'fielding a ringer": "Yeah my Marines are painted EXACTLY like ultramarines with appropriate unit and chapter markings, but I'm ACTUALLY playing BA's, and those two assault marines on that objective are scoring. I win!"

THIS is why it's best to leave the chapter symbols off your marines if their paintjob is that of a certain chapter.

I did have a Deathcompany squad for fluff reasons(They were an assault squad). They had flamers and such but i scrapped them because they were the main reason for people giving me crap. I DO explain thoroughly that I am playing Codex: Space Marines and not with the Blood angel Rules.

Im going to be Genesis Chapter anyways to avoid confrontation! Now I will have to deal with people telling me I shouldnt play Vulkan if im not Salamanders. Codex says I can so...

Thanks for the info.

I would use yellow.

In the Insignium Astartes book, they show the Genesis Chapter with yellow trim on the shoulder pads and chest eagle. They then say that the shoulder trim corresponds to the company color (chest eagle remains yellow).

So, if you did yellow trim, you'd be 2nd company. Red would be 3rd company, green for 4th, etc.

im yet to see a rule stating that an army must play at face value, but it is possible.

i dont have a problem with it, aslong as im made aware before hand, but theres allways TFG

I can't see how it should be a problem at all as long as your models are WYSIWYG.

Just look at all the armies using "counts as." I love the counts as armies because of the modelling possibilities they offer.
