Hey all!

Old player returning to 40k after a long absence and I could use some help
in converting some basic Ork Boyz and Nobz into Big Meks and such.

I know most of my basic boyz are all mounted on 25mm round bases but I
was wondering what base sizes are required for my conversions?
(checking the GW online store and bitz section didn't help much, only a very
few items listed the base size)

I assume (hate that word) all IC's are on 40mm round bases like the ones
that came with my AOBR box set for the Ork Warboss and Terminators, but
others like the Nobz confuse me as the AOBR ones had 25mm bases and the
Nobz box set(5) comes with 40mm bases. Does it really matter?

And if I do up some Stormboys conversions should they be on 25mm or larger
bases?

Thanks all! A couple of quick hints in the right direction and I'll be off to start
assembling and coverting my new Orks.

:-)

Well to be honest mate its up to you.But i would say that your important characters or elites should go on 40mm bases makes em easier to pick out in the field of green and gives you a lot more freedom when baseing.

Just dont go to big

The Nobz boxed set comes with 25mm rounds. The description on the website is incorrect.

Warbosses, Big Meks come with 40mm bases. Painboyz come with 25mm bases.

Hope that helps!

My nobz box came with 25 mm bases. I think on the website it said that they came with 40mm, but I assumed that was a misprint
(Unless I'm the only one who's box came with the small bases)
Except for mega-armored nobs, they always get 40mm.

The GW guideline is essentially "You should put your models on the base they come with" but most people won't give you too much grief if you use larger bases for modeling purposes. If you start putting grots on 40 mm bases or something like that which would obviously be what some folks would call "modeling for advantage" that might get you some dirty looks.

Like da-chaos-orks said, really its up to you.

EDIT: Whoops, JHall beat me to it.
