STARTING THE GAME:
We did the proper rolls for mission and deployment. The orks won the first turn and chose their side as you see in the following picture:

THE ORKS DEPLOYMENT
This was how he deployed his units.

THE ORKS TURN 1
MOVEMENT PHASE
He began to move his units forward a huge mob of over 100 Orks. Stomped their way towards the tendrils of the Tyranids.

SHOOTING PHASE

His lootas and some big shootas were the only thing in range. However he managed to wound and kill a couple of the Tyranid Warriors in the far distance.

TYRANID TURN 1
The first turn for the tyranids was horrible. So bad that I completely forgot to take pics even! I tossed 5 Large Pies at the huge mobs of orks and surprisingly enough only 2 hit! Everything just kept scattering right off though one did manage to scatter and kill 2 Lootas. However it was just horrible I expected lots of dead Orks.

THE ORKS TURN 2
Again the Orks pressed forward! Once more only big shootas and lootas were in range of the Nids however this proved to be enough to kill 2 units of Tyranid Warriors completely getting rid of 2 Barbed Stranglers and earning the Orks 2 Kill Points in their tally.

TYRANID TURN 2
Once more a very poor turn for the Nids as more shots scattered now with the Deathspitters in range however at least some damage was dealt to the Ork mobs. Only about a dozen Orks were killed not nearly enough what I expected from 3 Barbed Stranglers and nearly a dozen Deathspitters. The Orks continue to massively outshoot the Nids.

ASSAULT PHASE

Finally within range of the genestealers! The stealers make their way up, while the warriors use the shooting phase to soften up the mobs of orks specially the shoota boyz who have been beating down the Nids for 3 turns already. However after succesfully crippling the number of boyz with mass fire from the warriors, the genestealers were unable to perform well in the assault only killing 6 Shoota Boyz and being wiped off the board as the Shoota Boyz scored exactly 5 wounds and killing all the genestealers.

THE ORKS TURN 3
The Orks begin to get really close to the Nids. The Big Shootas and Lootas claim more and more lives. The Shoota Boyz unleash a storm of fire on the warriors. However the Warriors make a lot of saves surviving through most of the Ork shooting this turn.

TYRANIDS TURN 3
MOVEMENT PHASE
Now left only with 4 warriors, 8 genestealers and 1 carnifex on the left side of the board the Tyranids were poised to make a Death or Glory final counter attack on the left side of the board. Whilst on the right side things were going a bit better and the Tyranids had a chance to conquer the Shoota Boyz on that side of the board.

ASSAULT PHASE
The Carnifex and Raveners launched their assaults facing off against Slugga Boyz and Shoota Boyz on the left and right sides of the board respectively. Both won combat, the carnifex killed a couple boyz and took a wound while the raveners managed to wipe off all the Shoota Boyz and safely retreat behind terrain to proper from the menacing Lootas. The Raveners finally gave the Tyranid army their first kill point!

THE ORKS TURN 4
The Orks enjoyed their combat victory and pressed forward even harder now that one genestealer threat had been dealt with. All in range with their guns now the shoota boyz let it all out on the Tyranid Warriors who were dropping like flies on the left and right sides of the table. Severely cripping the shooting power of the Nid army.

TYRANIDS TURN 4
The Tyranids felt the immidiate threat of annihilation and began a fierce pursuit of all Orks in range. Warriors would come to the Carnifex's aid and Genestealers would seek out the Shoota Boyz. On the right side only the Raveners and a full genestealer unit were left standing with everything out of their fire radius. The paths were blocked by the fire lanes of the Lootas who were decimating everything in their sight. The Warriors and Carnifex fight and are Victorious putting an end to a unit of Slugga Boyz, however this cost the Carnifex 3 wounds only 2 more remained. And The Genestealers were 1/2" away from being able to assault the Shoota Boyz.

THE ORKS TURN 5
SHOOTING PHASE
The Shokk Attack Gun misfired after rolling a pair of 5s! Launching the Big Mek directly into Close Combat with the Genestealer unit that was out in the open! Finally the Nids catch a big break as this was the first shot fired on what would've been an assured rain of fire on the genestealers that turn.

ASSAULT PHASE
The Orks then decide to call upon the power of Waagh! To prevent the Tyranids from any posibility of winning the game thanks to the fatal mistake of the Big Mek.

TYRANIDS TURN 5
In the previous Ork Turn the carnifex was eliminated by the power of the Ork Waagh! And so did the Big Mek encounter it's end at the hands of a unit of 8 Genestealers. The massive counter attack of the nids would be felt as the Warriors and Genestealers rushed forward to destroy everything within their range effectively getting both the Slugga Boyz and Shoota Boyz into a multiple assault where the Genestealers would cause 18 Kills and the Warriors would cause 7 Kills for a total of 25 Dead Boyz. The Orks on the counter attack focused on eliminating the warriors and gaining one more kill point. Landing 5 Wounds and losing combat by 20. The Slugga Boyz and their Big Mek leader were all eliminated after taking 20 more No Retreat saves and the Shoota Boyz had to fall back and were caught in a mighty genestealer sweeping advance. After the dust settled only the Genestealers drew breath.

GAME CONTINUES
ORK TURN 6
The Ork Lootas unleash all hell on the genestealers leaving only 1 to survive.

TYRANIDS TURN 6

The Genestealer remaining crawled up the side of the nearest building and hid himself to avoid giving up yet another victory point. While the Raveners attempted to gain a draw by coming out and shooting the Lootas on the right in hopes of killing 3 and getting the Lootas to fall back and off the board. However they were unsuccessful and so the game came to a close.

END OF GAME
Unfortunately the 2 Loota units were still left very much alive and unreachable making it impossible for the Tyranids to reach them and eliminate. The game ends 7 to 6. The Orks win this massive shooting contest between close combat armies.

Wow, nice battle report! 100+ boyz is truely a scary sight.

So who was playing the 'nids? I think the biggest problem the player was facing was that his army list just didn't have a lot of oomph against the huge amount of boyz, instead focusing on very expensive elite units (the genestealers with a couple extras). Plus, close-combat carnifex's are pretty horrible, they just can't put out the amount of attacks they would need to be effective. Even though they're mostly considered too expensive, one of my favourite units to use against orks are hormagaunts - with their amazing range and 12" charge, they can deny the ork player his charge bonus, and with a couple upgrades can be quite lethal against other soft targets.

But then again, the thing I liked most about this report where the somewhat unusual army lists - looks like you built them around having fun instead of winning at all costs.

Man I took one look at the nids and knew they were in trouble. I'll offer some tips. Cut back on the bio-morph upgrade. those gene stealers were waaay too upgraded.
For the warriors drop the ws upgrade, save it for straight cc warriors. ravanors should only have shooty upgrades, if you need points for a 2000+ game they should ALWAYS fleet. Carnifex has waaay to many upgrades. That said I think the list is good.

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.

Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole

Hey thanks for reading the battle reports guys. So let me answer some of ur questions.

1. I was the Tyranid player (see my other battle reports you may also like those)

2. Yeah I was testing out this list which I consider my 'barbed strangler' list which in theory it should've murdered the Orks however it performed very poorly in the game. Due to it's reliance on scatter weapons.

There was 5 untis of 4 Warriors, 3 with deathspitters and 1 with barbed strangler.
This gives me 15 S6 AP5 small blasts per turn, and 5 S4 AP5 PINNING Large Blasts per turn.

It's a VERY shooty list and tell any ork player that he's going to go up against that many blast templates and most ord players would be ready to toss in the towel.

However my scatters were absolutely horrible. lolz you had to be there...so many blast weapons and hardly any hits, everything was scattering every where and most simply missed.

It was a very gun game regardless the ridiculous amount of missed blast weapons was just funny to see, and we pretty much had a shooting contest which the Orks won. I didn't start making up my points until after I assaulted.

3. Actually I consider myself a highly experienced Nid player (again this game just went horribly wrong with my shooting it was like rolling all 1s constantly with BS 5). With that said the Carnifex was great look at the battle report and you'll see he single handedly took out a whole squad of slugga boyz because he is toughness 7 so other than charging him, the only thing that can damage him is the Nob with PK and he has to hit on 4s and wound on 3s making it difficult to get a bunch of wounds on a multi wound fex. The Fex won combat every turn until he died. So CC fexes work great against cc models with S3, as a T7 upgrade makes them invulnerable.

4. Yeah the genestealers had a big of upgrades because i was hoping to assault with it all together but like with the rest of the list I was testing waters and in the end, the genestealers nearly nabbed a tie by wiping out tons of boyz.

5. The raveners had deathspitters to fit the them of tossing out as many blast weapons as I could at 1500pts, they added another 3 deathspitters to the mix.

The game was really fun and i was getting murdered until that shokk attack gun misfired right into cc with the genestealers lmao which saved them from getting shot up by the boyz.

I would definetly like to replay this battle in the future I think the blast weapons all missing like they did in that game was some sort of freak occurance. And also now i've experienced the frightening long range might of the Lootas. So i'd be better prepared to go after them early on. I made the mistake of thinking I could sit back and completely outshoot the orks while waiting for them to come near me and wipe them out in CC didnt expect Ork shooting to be that good.

nice battle report you had made. i really love it especially those pictures you took. it brought me in-depth looking to the furist battle between two mighty stompy orks and nasty killy Tyranid brood you play. if you add some fluff on this report it would be great.

you said you wanted to replay this kind of list? let me to be your opponent i wish.

Yeah definetly want to, lol i just can't believe how horrible those blast weapons scattered all game long.

And yeah writting fluff is hard from a tyranid point of view imo, their 'thought' process wouldn't really be a thought process rather than the hive mind directing.
