How do you build your steggys and why? I am super new to WHFB (haven't played a game yet) and I'm trying to get a feeling for these things as I have 3 to build. I have plenty of models aside from the steggys which I'm thinking I may need a couple more of.
How do you build your stegadon? EoTG? classic? How?

That being said, I'll still give you a 0 if you bring more than 5 eldar skimmers. Don't be that guy.

Order I would do it in:
1: Skink priest on ancient with Engine of the gods... insano good.
2: Tenehuini on ancient with EOG... even better thanks to Ld 8 and run 2 EOGs. BUT a special character and there is still some residual annoyance at SCs by many players.
3: Regular stegadon with giant bow- for special choics.
4: Ancient with blow pipes.
5: Ancient ridden by skink chief with the spear that increases impact hits. Frightening to go up against.

Each one has a job in my opinion. If you just want a stegadon no the table but also need magic defense the Engine of the Gods is good as it allows you to protect nearby units with it's ward save. Also, tree spirit wood elf lists shake in their boots when they're around it and it's also useful against daemons. Put a lvl 2 skink on it with a dispel scroll and the diadem of power and make sure to save two power dice. This will give you 6 dispel dice and a scroll for a fairly strong magic defense.
If you just want to bring the pain, I say take the ancient with giant blowpipes with a skink chief carrying the war spear. It's great for getting around units with always strike first and it's blow pipes are great for clearing out skirmishers.
I really don't care for the giant bow.. makes folks want to use the stegadon as a war machine instead of a hybrid chariot/monster. Those impact hits, terror and strength 5 attacks are the reason you pay so much for it, don't use it JUST for the sissified bolt thrower.
Being that you have 3 kits though, why not build one of each? It's unlikely you'll use more then 2 in a 2000 pt or less game anyway, so build one of each and capitalize on the flexibility it offers

One of my stegadons is a metal one and it's missing the great bow... I was thinking about using it to carry the slaan hero feller

skink chiefs can't ride the engine of the gods. It's a priest only stegadon. They can ride the Ancient Stegadons though.
