Welp i already have over 2k in Guard all painted and ready to go. They're a PDF force with some prison militia thrown in for measure with some converted tanks and Sentinels.

But ever since watching Shake Hands with the Devil i've wanted to do a UN force either as part of or to make a completely new army from. With the new models and Valk comin out pic wise it spurred me on to get with it. So here's a quicky test spec model. Thinkin of gettin rid of all eagles on uniforms, eagles, etc. Also will prolly shave everything extra off the Cadian helmets.

Only problem i have now is weapon colors, went with a Chardonite Granite cause black was too black.





Questions and comments always welcome, if this gets off the ground i intend to follow the whole ordeal with a blog. All thats left is to figure how to paint a Chimera white.....

I think the helmet color is far too dark for a UN force. I think an ice blue base would look best. Powderblue is what I always envision UN troops having. Also, try to use a micropen instead of a brush for the lettering, it will come out nicer (if your handwriting is in fact nicer, mine isn't).

I like it alot, but just curious would the blue boot armor plate be better if its same color as the flak armor?

Why would you want to waste 2k points worth of guard by making them resemble the sorriest excuse for a paramilitary organization that ever lived?

Yeah will prolly go Ice over the Enchanted Blue as a base and will try the micro pen although my chicken scratch writing has alot to be desired heh.

No no, the 2k i have currently fully done is completely differant. I have a ton of IG still to be built and painted and was thinkin of trying something differant.

Asides that silliness of me... I agree with them, definitely a lighter shade of blue on that helmet. I think this would be a cool theme army, or at least a squad. Do it!

From an artistic standpoint it's obvious that you have a pretty royal hand when it comes to painting. I'd lose the blue leg-guards though. As for the helmet, maybe a 1:1 mix of Ice blue and Spcacewolfs grey? Maybe skip out hte UN lettering too or possibly sharpen it up a bit more.

If you MUST proceed with this idea, you really should ditch the "UN" on the helmets entirely. It just doesn't work on any level.

First, there's the item that JoeyFox pointed out before; PEACEKEEPERS in 40k? Then, there's the fact that there is no organization named United Nations in the game, nor are there even any nations that are united.

Aside from any "real life vs. sci-fi game" debates, the one shot of blue on the top of an otherwise indistiguishable model is aesthetically wanting for more.

Unbalanced.

Yea seriously people this is about his painted mini, not political bullcrap.
That being said I really like them. Looks good specially for being something different. Personally I like the blue on the shinguards. It not only adds to the helm color but also breaks up the colors of the uniform.

You should do up some stormtroopers who are Executive Solutions, the guys who come in and take care of business after the fodder are all dead of chased away.

I've been doing a similar idea with a Guard army for a friend. Been picking up various figs for the last 10 years- few Praetorians here, Valhallans there,... Since the whole army's pretty haphazard, decided to name it a provisionary force- The 317th Provisionary "The Emperor's Table Scraps". Only unifying item is swatches of light blue on troops and vehicles.

No prob aun, glad for the feed-back. The blue on the helmets is deffinatley i need to work on, still use Enchanted as a base due to it coating well than yeah, perhaps straight Ice over that. And i agree on the free hand, i have never been the best at it although it has come along way. Will prolly try out a micro pen solution. Especially since the crazy gits plaster the UN all over their helmets and stark white vehicles......ya know, so you can shoot them from farther away lol.

Thanx fer the back-up King but looks like we got it sorted out hehe. It's tough when someone wants to do something sorta real life in a fictonal setting. A friend of mine tried to nay nay this cause he said real life projects in 40k never work hehe. Thats exactly why i put the blue on the boots. With the tan and the off green i want for the flak jackets it needed abit of splash.

Could do, i still have some spares sittin around from my IG army. Not the biggest fan of the Stormers so we'll see what the new dex brings us. My lists usually include 2-4 armor, 4 sentinels and as many boys i can fit, not too flashy.

I like em a lot. It's an interesting colour scheme for a guard army. I'd ditch the UN emblem though. It's better to have them look like a regiment of guard inspired by the UN.

Ummm... Seems I missed the blue on the shins so... scratch that bit about the blue on the top o' the head...

Well the Imperial Coast Guard would be happy to reinforce the UN..

On other suggestions, if you want to go with the peackeeper feel, adding some arbites in might be a step in the right direction
