flicking though the ork dex there arent any decent flash git pics, i want to make a small unit to go with badruk, but they will be very cluttered and top heavy.
would many people mind if i used the small 40mm monster bases for them? (same ones as termies)
the basic ork nob is on a 25mm base, but barely fits, these will be a bit bigger, and more than likely hang over thier bases, so, how much would it matter if they get a slightly larger base than normal?
also, incase anyone is unsure, flashgitz are nobz with stupidly large guns.

The rules for what size base a miniature can be mounted on can be found on page 3 of the Warhammer 40,000 5th edition rulebook.

'unless you have the opponent's permission'
It used to be that going with a larger base was a disadvantage. Not sure that's true anymore.
Do you plan to measure max coherency every turn to minimize the number of models that a template will touch? That's the advantage of using bigger bases - spreading out the formation more. Using a smaller base is generally more advantageous than a larger, but not always.
If you're not TFG with a bigger base, then I don't think many people will take issue.

very good steelmage
GW dont make flashgitz.
so i can just buy warbosses and convert those for larger base sizes?
or maybe square monster bases and use ogre models as a base for the model?
thanks dietrich, i think ill make them on a 25mm base, then make a 40mm base for them to go on for display / friendly games.

I didn't included that part because of all the things written in the rules-section, that is the most idiotic (right next to the Most Important Rule).
Everything (and I do mean absolutely every-frigging-thing) is allowed with opponents permission.
Not a swing at you, dietrich. Just a pet peeve of mine.

I would also see nothing wrong with gluing a 25mm bases onto a 40mm base, or painting a 25mm ring onto the 40mm base and measuring to/from the 25mm 'ring'.

I know.
But it is the one and only rule concerning base-sizes.

thanks everyone
looks like ill be using a pin system on the bases
im pretty sure ill only be able to get 1 foot on the 25mm base though as they will be bracing themselves as they fire.

A lot of people glue a penny or something to the bottom of the base to weigh it down a bit. That could help your situation some as well.

thats what i was planning to do anti
i still have the problem of the models size though lol
where they will be braced to fire thier legs will be a distance apart, so i wouldnt be able to have both feet glued to the base, one would allways be hanging off the base.

I guess that would be a bit of a pain... haha. Unless you put the weight of Ghazghkull on the end of their weapons, you should be fine
