I was told that in order to play a model in an official tournement, 90% of it has to be from GW, Green stuff, or plasticard. How do you know a model is 90% or not, I wanna put grav chutes and a new head on my storm troopers for my IG army, is that gonna fly? Cause everything else will be all GW stuff

I have heard horror stories about such things. If your model isn't OBVIOUSLY a GW model, they might not accept it, but I have also heard, more often than previously anecdoted, things are pretty loose, as long as it is mostly GW, or very GW-esque, and doesn't make up a lot of your army, I have heard few complaints. However, I did have a friend who has an all old Necromunda IG army that he has had trouble getting into Tournaments.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

When in doubt, ask the organizers of that specific tournament. Adepticon, for example, has a system in place for pre-approving conversions via email so you can avert unpleasant surprises on the day of the event.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

some say 70%, some say 90%.

But the basic thing here is.

if the 30% of the none GW are absolutely awesome and people will recognize it, and buy it , GW will say no.

Basically keeping the customers from drooling at other company's nice stuff.
