You could allways use the new HE dragon wings, simply use a hair dryer on them to make them soft, you can then bend them to a better shape to stop LOS problems.

I always thought you could justify large wings due to their actual physical need. I read somewhere that if humans had wings, even if we had hollow bones like birds they would still be 20 ft long (either that or we would have a 20 ft wingspan, which means they would be 10 ft long)

Well i was at an Ard boyz tourney and a guy had used large dragon wings to make it look more realistic but his tyrant always died first just because you could see the wings from anywhere and i dont want it happening to me as well

But we have birds like humming birds and kingfishers D:

If this was 5th edition rules they were cheated. The BBB pg 16 says wings and tails cannot be targeted. Must be body (head, arms, legs, torso).

I like the balrog wings and recently bought them. They are pretty huge, though. Fortunately, The Green Git pointed out that this problem is out of the window.

Last tournament I was at one of my opponents had a pair of Flying Lash Demon Princes with those huge @$$ Balrog wings on them. He used a Rhino wall to block LOS to most of his army... of course if those 6" long wings were able to be targeted that would have been a different game.

your close there monsieur P4NC4K3.
the equation is actually WEIGHT/(0.5*coefficiant of flight*air density*(speed^2))= Area in square meters needed for flight
lets say the human weighs 100kg, flies at around 10 meters per second (around hussein bolts world record), has a coefficiant of flight of 0.1 (feathery wings arnt too efficiant) and assume the density is around 1kg you get
100/(0.5*0.1*1*(10*10)= 20 square meters.
just thought you guys might enjoy that chunk of trivia.

Yeah... the rules say that true line of sight applies to parts of the units body, but does not include ornate decorations, including banners, wings, cloaks, and large weapons. They put this clause in there to keep from discouraging scratch builders and modelers from going crazy with conversions. This is why I like GW as a game company.

i need to read into this, my badruk conversion has 3 large banners, which tends to make him stand out ...... alot.
would be nice to know he cant be killed by a lascannon hitting his banner

Green Git hit the nail on the head. Wings cannot be used to get LOS on him, has to be major body part.
