For just three points you get an assault two storm bolter! You cant even use the bolt pistol in combat, so why does anyone take it? I am new, so if I'm missing something then tell me

Yep...

Chappies are all about CC, so if you take away the pistol for a SB, you are just gimping the poor guy by removing one of his attacks. If you want more firepower for him, you can always give him a plasma pistol, but I always found them a waste of points...and a little too risky for my tastes

as stated, the pistol adds to CC attacks.
plasma pistol is a waste of time and points, very expensive for something that may result in the chappy smoking himself early in the game, or after finishing combat.


allthough, the storm might work ok against anything without armour, possibly get a few shots off before combat, then once combat has ended you may get a few more, all depends on how the battle goes.
but its down to you to pick which you prefer

I thought the bolt pistol only gave extra attacks to CC weapons, not Crozius (power weapon)

A model with a bolt pistol and a lightning claw or a power fist won't recieve a bonus attack. You have to have those in pairs to recieve bonus attacks for them.

power sword and pistol works, hence crozius works.
