Could a unit of warriors confers coversaves to a hive tyrant? How about zoanthropes?

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.

Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole

On moon miranda.

If the warriors/zoanthropes physically obscure 50% of the hive tyrant, then yes.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Densely packed in several lines it should be no problem but if they just stand base to base on a single line you probably see more than 50%.

It can be very hard to determine (which is why I don't like the 50% rule for vehicles and monstrous creatures), especially if they are painted with similar coulours.

In one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 6", kill a few guys with his flamer, assault 6", kill two more guys with his bayonet, flee 12", regroup when assaulted, react 6", kill one more guy with his bayonet and then flee another 12".
So in one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 42" and kill more than 5 people. At the same time a Chimera at top speed on a road can move 18"...

Tis a judgement call i agree but really you wanna protect your warriors more than your tyrant. Base to basing warriors to provide a meat-shield for the tyrant means all those blast-weapons have just become quite a bit more deadly =against the warriors. Any wise-player would re-direct firepower accordingly - warriors are rarely cheap and will simply become a point-sink if used like that.

an easier way to get cover saves for your tyrant would be to put two tyrant guards with him and line it up behind gaunts, as long as atleast 50% of the unit is eligible for a cover save (in this case the guards are while the tyrant is not) then the entire unit may take cover saves.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Or even better, model your tyrant crouching. Or use the 2nd edition model, which is half as tall.

I usually have genestealers infront of the warriors and guants infront of them, so everybody gets covered....sept for the poor guants. Good Idea on the guards, but I have the old supper tall ones from 3rd ed

Guard aren't monster though are they? So should the guants in front of them give them a cover say and then their special rules says your attacks have to hit them not the Tyrant. (Note- have read the Tyranid Codex in forever so sorry if this is wrong)

Nope, you're right. This is the much easier way to get a cover save for a Tyrant; just give his guards in cover.
