Hi,
i´ve been out of the game for a bit and just wanted to find out whats changed (rules, army lists, trends).
the last time i played was at the Brisbane GT 2006 with wood elves where i came third (missed out on first by like 2 points).
i also play skaven (but the current rules sort of ruined the list a bit with the weapons teams) and am starting a tomb kings army
thanks

Are you asking what changed for sixth to seventh edition? if i remember correctly seventh came out at the end of '06, but that could have been '07.
Anyways, one thing that changed that will really effect Wood Elves is the fact that skirmishers can now be march blocked, and the Power Dice generated by each mage cannot go into the "army pool" but goes into their own pool of dice and each can use the dice that are in the army pool and\or the dice they generate by themselves. Dispel Dice still go into the army pool.
Skirishers where each model has a Unit Strength of two or more do not get the -1 to getting shot at.
Building Rules were Greatly simplified and are usable in the game now. i can't remember if there were building rules in 6th edition, but i know there were in 5th, and they sucked.
are there any specific questions you would like answered? Specific questions are easier to answer.

In terms of wood elf strategies not a hell of a lot has changed.
What has changed is the type of opponent you will face and the things that are avaliable to them.
This makes a huge difference on how you pick and play your army.
Your gonna just have to try a half dozen games then come back and ask again.

yes 7th ed was out when i was playing so i understand the new rules.
as for specific things i suppose after reading these forums daemons, dark elves and vampire counts are what everyone is saying is the bomb. why are they so and i suppose their strengths and weakness´. have they all received new rulebooks or something?
i played a VC army at the GT in 06 and wiped them 16:4 (wiped the entire army off the board, no models left) and i have a friend who i´ve played a few games against recently with DE and i´ve either beaten him or only just lost.
i haven´t seen daemons in play though anytime recently. i saw someone in the old rules with them who had heaps of horrors and flamers etc and had like 20 casting dice or something ridiculous.
the only other thing would be if there are any errata´s to the rules.

VC aren't that great in my opinion, I think tomb kings are much better.

If the counts play Ethereal Spam, they can be nasty for a low magic army, though.
