Despite their inherent cheapness, I've found that I simply have poor luck in getting warmachines to work well for me, so I've decided to take a different, far more thematic approach to my gobbo-horde. Loads of squigs, a heaping helping of fanatics, and a full contingent of pump-wagons (modeled as squig-chariots).

Will this succeed in causing a decent amount of strategy-crumbling mayhem, while retaining a decently solid core? Will the huge number of ItP models soften the blow from fear-causing armies and elves?

But it sure looks dam cool...

Its cool and i have got a gobbo army and i can still see a problem with the new vampire counts, an entire fear causing army would scare your army off the battlefield.
But these armies can be fun, what about fielding skarsnik and gobbla?
He could add some much needed punch to normal gobbo units

i am willing to bet the fanatics go wild and kill half your army, sending them running off the table

Taking into account F.R.O.G., they'll go wild and kill half my opponent's army, sending them off the table half the time.

Goblin army with lots of squigs = Most impressive army to look at!

I don't mind fielding Skarsnik and Gobbla, but I like to create my base list without special characters. Even with Night Gobbos, special characters just seem wrong to use in a game where they aren't agreed to beforehand, and some tournaments don't even allow them.

That army will cause some tactical mayhem, but any general with expendable units like a giant eagle, raised zombies or the like could send fanatics spinning out early. This makes for a really funny game but unlikely for the gobo's to win. i Know because i have a goblin army. Goblins rule.
