On the profile page your friends list should tell you if your friends are online or offline next to their name

I agree 100%, finally someone is talking sense, a notice on the profile page that tells you if a friend is online or not would help considerably instead of having to look at one of their posts.

The profile page is up for review later in the year, and we'll hopefully be adding a whole load of social stuff (including your suggestion) towards the end of the year if everything goes to plan.

Yeah, you could have one of those annoying little boxes that slide up from the bottom right of the screen for Dakka, that come up saying

"LOLOL SO-AND-SO'S ONLINE I'M MAKING YOUR CS GAME LAG OH BETTER NOT DIE"
