Page 39 IG codex, "A Command Platoon counts as a *single unit* for army selection, deployment and reserves purposes."

A Command Platoon consists of Command Squad and 0-5 Support Squads

A Command Squad can be mounted in a Chimera transport.

Does the Command Squad + Chimera count as a *single unit* for deployment purposes in Dawn of War? That is to say, can I deploy my Command Squad in a Chimera as *one* HQ?

The codex only states that the Command Squad and the 0-5 Support Squads compose the Command Platoon. That means that you can deploy the Command Platoon as one unit, but that doesn't include the Chimera, since the transport is by default a seperate unit and no text to contrary is provided.

Does the transport take up an FOC? If it doesn't then I could see it counting as part of the command unit as long as they start out embarked.

It works the same way with taking transports in reserve, I wouldn't see why it wouldn't work with deploying it.

Nope, the example given in the BGB specifically states that transports are considered to be separate units. The Chimera (or indeed the Command Squad) would have to come on as a reserve.

That completely contradicts what Dashofpepper was saying in the other thread...

EDIT: nevermind, I dont want to have two threads on the same topic :-\

Double Edit: BoxANT, it would only work if the transport was dedicated.

That's the general rule, yes.

The specific rule for IG is that all elements of the Command Platoon count as a single *unit* for deployment. The Chimera of the Command Platoon is still part of the Command Platoon. As it all counts as a single unit, the Chimera (for the command platoon, as well as any attached special/heavy weapons squads) deploys at the start of Dawn of War.

(Note that Troops platoons use different language, and do not count as a single unit for purposes of deployment.)

Just call it for friendly games and check with any TO before any tournament you go to.

With the Codex being replaced in a mere few months, I wouldnt put to much energy into this one.
