I really want to scratch build a deflier for my army. I want it to have a snake like lower body with 4 mechanical cc arms. The concern im having is what size base to put it on. I'm not concerned with taking it to tourneys or anything, but on a similar note i want it to be fair. I'm leaning towards a dread sized base, but i also want it to be significantly larger than a dread. Are there bases available that are bigger than the typical dreadnaught base?

Youll have to either have someone cut some wood up or go to a craft store and get one of those round plaques if you want anything bigger than a 60mm.

CDs work too, but even that is too small for a defiler.

Micheals has round wood plaques for like 2 bucks that are perfect size.

The alternative to that is to use MDF or Particle board (stuff clipboards are made of). Its solid and can be shaped however you want. Also it isnt overly thick, so it wouldnt look out of place. As a bonus, it is incredibly cheap too (and you can use the leftovers for your terrain pieces).

I'm going to be building a snake Defiler once I get some plasticard... I'm so eager to make it, but I need to finish this unit of Raptors and then a unit of Noise Marines. Roar!

I mean everyone and their mother does a scorpion... and while cool, is too overdone. I was trying to think of other animals to make, but the snake really is going to be the best bet.

if your not a fan of making your own base and your defiler is going to be long and thin i suggest a warhammer fantasy dragon base or i found just now a "large oval base"

Wow makes me wish i could paint lol. I've done alot of preliminary sketches and i think its gonna turn out well. Is your whole army Slaanesh? If so id do LUST in huge gothic/english script.

yeah most of my armys slaanesh but i do have a mark of khorne in there for gaming purposes. and about the LUST, im alright at painting but i dont think i can do that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could try those. Print up what you need in the cool old script and slide transfer em. on a side note i started the skeleton for my snake Defiler. I plan on either greenstuffing over this, or possible cutting a series of armor plates from plasticard and just greenstuffing to give it something to glue to.
