So I took my tyrannids to the Broadside and they went 3-2 with both losses being a close thing but the next Indy GT is only 3 weeks away and I don't really feel like pushing all those models around again so soon so I figured I'd play my pure GK. Thoughts and comments are welcome.

Hey, when/where is the so-cal slaughter?

about the list: think you are going to have hard time getting that many CKs across the board on foot. Have you considered inquisitorial stormies with donatable transports?

It's on March 6-8 in Garden Grove, CA. Hit up their website for details. www.scgwl.com.

As for the list i've considered the stormies but having lighter armor just gives them a target for their lascannons. I advance on foot while firing all game, supported and screened by the landraiders. I should be able to either get to their objectives or jump in the landraider and make a rush for them by turn 5-6.

Busy somewhere, airin' out the skin jobs.

I think you'll be a little light on anti-armour for 2000 pts.

Yeah, but I can't bring myself to drop troops for another Landraider 7 Psycannons should be good for light vehicle (rhinos, immolators, sentinels, and side armor chimera's) while the 4 lascannons can deal with anything except monoliths and LR's.

Oh and you should change your sig to pure GK's w/a small squad of stormtroopers

I'll be flying in from Seattle to compete with my Salamanders (and the GF gets to go to Disneyland!)

I'd say get rid of one grey knights squad for a psychic hood on your captain, 2 units of stormtroopers with melta guns, and a couple psycannons for your remaining squads.

Throw the storm troopers in the landraiders, then *POOF* you have scoring land raiders that can move 6" and fire two lascannons.

Yes, not pure Grey Knights, but a bit more competitive (with more anti tank up close)

As for the psychic hoods i'm not gonna bother since any power that they use to affect a unit has a free psychic hood (go go magic Aegis suit). True this won't stop warptime, guide or fortune but meh. The units of GK's for the most part don't have the psycannons so that they can stay mobile at 18-24"s which i wouldn't be able to do with the cannons. It also gives me more combat flexibility when i get caught.

I agree that stormtroopers would help make the list more competative but I am really jazzed to go pure GK so they'll have to stay on the sidelines for this tourney

Psycannons?

I've always questioned them. They encourage you to stand still and defeat the purpose of the flexibility in GK. 2 more PAGK will do you a world better than a shortened assault weapons range or the urge to stand still to shoot.

Catch me if you can.

The psycannons on the termies obviously are for moving and shooting while keeping the distance open. The two on the smaller squad are because that may very well be the one squad that doesn't move much. I need one unit i'm not tempted to move all around the table to hold my home objective so that's why it's 6 GK's w/2 Psycannons instead of 8 GK's

Why aren't you fielding a grand master? There are a lot of assault units that can trash GKTs. I would stick with the psycannons... To me it is one of the best guns in their arsenal.

This is exactly how I've been playing recently. They DO encourage you to be static sometimes but the single unit isnt so bad to have...it's still mobile when it HAS to be.

I still dont really like the encouragement to stand still, but its such a cheap way to get a couple more psycannons in the list (as opposed to the BC captains in the squads that you're paying BIG points for-182pts for 6 Psycannon shots).....If you were to spread psycannon all through all 4 of your squads, I'd call foul and say reconsider. 1 Squad though, to add fire to the terminators?...thats about right, at least it CAN be.

Speaking of your Brother Captains, you could scrap those and go minimum sized squads for the terminators. Get a Targetter on your Justicar in the Psycannon PAGK squad running with them to ensure max range psycannon for shrouding benefit. After scrapping the BC and two terminators, you've EASILY got points for the third land raider, or maybe points to raise your commander to a GM and a Lascannon/Missle Dread for your third anti-armour unit. Just something to think about, those brother captains are hella expensive, for three shots anyway.

Thanks Shane, it's the style I've been running for a while now, whenever i go back and pick up my GK's

I've only got the one captain that is my HQ and he costs 91. The other two extra termies are 92 points combined. That only nets me 183 points. That's enough to level one to a gm which only nets me more attacks in combat but nothing else really of value to the list while leaving me without enough points to purchase a dread (120-130). Unless your talking about scrapping the psycannon on the termi bc's in which case since it's only a 30pt upgrade (not bad for 36 inches and an extra heavy weapon) i find it completely useful. The extra terminator is for wound depth and honestly since combat armies will get there he is for more stompiness when the bad men come a knockin.

I agree with the targeter on the small squad and they actually are the only squad armed with one already This is good conversation, especially if anyone else out there is starting GK's.
