Subject: Can walkers fire on the turn they land in deepstrike?

stupid question of the day.
Can walkers (dreads/soulgrinders etc.) that deepstrike in, fire on the turn they deepstrike?
-Deepstrike is noted as having units coming in at cruising speed.
-This is great but walkers don't cruise and the chart for weaponry that can fire has na for that section?
So does na mean they can like walking or na mean they can't (note other items in the chart specifically state 'none')?

Walkers can always move and shoot 2 weapons (if they do not run.)
Edit: and as soon as I am out of this meeting, I will get my book and find a page reference... sorry.

Walkers have the rule (relentless?) that allows them to fire all their weapons and move.

You could get in a rules dispute over this. The way I play is that walkers can fire on the turn they deep strike because on page 72 of the brb under walker shooting it says "Walkers can move and fire all of their weapons, just like a stationary vehicle."
The chart on the next page says N/A for cruising speed, not No.

Under p72 of the vehicles section under the heading 'Moving Walkers' it describes how walkers move exactly like infantry. Thus cruising speeds & such are irrelevant.
Walkers can move and fire all its weapon, just like a stationary vehicle.
When you deep-strike you count as moving for the purposes of shooting weapons (amoung other things?) so following the rules mentioned above, Yes, you can fire weapons from walkers the turn they land in deep-strike.

The point they are making with Cruising Speed is that vehicles that arrive via Deep Strike count as moving at Cruising Speed. The rule on pg. 72 only refers to it being able to move and fire, which has no relevance to Deep Striking. Its really a question of which rule supersedes the other.

You: "Hold on, you rammed, that's not a tank shock"

Rulebook: "A ram is a special kind of tank shock"
You: "So it's a tank shock until it hits a vehicle, and then it's a ram, not a tank shock, and then it goes back to being a tank shock later!"
Me: "Yeah it doesn't really say any of that in here, how about we just play by what's written in here?" |

Yes, beacause after deepstriking you can shoot as if you have moved, so as a walker can fire all of its weapons.

Walkers (which are a type of vehicle with its own special rules) move in exactly the same way as infantry. Deep-striking counts a movement - for vehicles = cruisng speed. For infantry = counts as moving for purposes of shooting.

Yes it does count as moving but a moving walker may still fire all its weapons RULE: Walkers can move and fire all their weapons just like a stationary vechile. Thus a deepstriking walker gets to fire its guns

Which comes back to the question if the Walker always firing as stationary overrides the Deep Strike counting vehicles as counting as moving Cruising Speed.

There is no conflict there. After deep striking, the Walker counts as moving at Cruising speed. The Walker has a rule allowing it to fire all weapons after moving. Ergo, the Walker can fire after deep striking.

Your right for the wrong reasons. A walker will never move, count as or be prevented from moving at cruising speed (or flat out, or combat etc) becuase when it comes to moving it moves exactly as infantry as per the rulebook, p72.

So it sounds like, because they are treated as infantry for movement purposes (which would jive with the NA on the chart), like other infantry they are able to deepstrike and fire.
