Would someone mind explaining to me what the object on this backpack is and possibly some advice in what it should look like painted?

Can't tell from the picture but tiny robed statue or more likely, candle. There is probably a picture somewhere of the whole DA upgrade sprue painted by GW from when it first came out.

Looks like a reliquary...the statue is likely some sort of chapter relic, as the backpack is meant for DA veterans and in the fluff DA veteran equipment is highly valued and passed down from one generation to the next.

I know it's a DA backpack. And a reliquary is just a container for relics. I'm just trying to figure out what the relic thing inside the reliquary is. It looks sorta like a candle, but with a handle at the top. I can't figure out if it's supposed to be some sort of incense holder or something else. I'm thinking of "converting" a chaplain backpack to have one of these and would like to know what it is that I'm actually using.

That is a sacred object, or little ancient artifact, DebonaireToast hit it on the head.

Paint it brass, Gold, bone white, with some wash on it, or however you want.

I'm thinking the same thing but given how specific some of the other relics are I wanted to find out for certain. Guess I'll treat it as a monstrance and go for a gold color then.
