Subject: Heavy Flamer in IG Infantry Squads - How Would You Use Them?

With the latest batch of pics of both the Cadian and the Catachan Command Squads, we've seen new plastic Heavy Flamers. We've also got confirmation that the Doctrine system is going away - consequently, IG will no longer have to take stupid Jungle Fighter rules to use Heavy Flamers. I'm curious as to how folks plan on using them - or if folks will be using them. Plan to use them in walking speed-bump units? Or mount them in Chimeras and use them to hold objectives? What are your thoughts on their use (and abuse!)?

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack |

I think that a good use would be to have 2 of them and a demo charge special weapon squad and have them be cheap speedbumps.

Same as with Special Weapon squads now, use them to burn whatever pastes the front rank of your army.

Only if they introduce the sufficienty sized template.
Why waste points on them when you can get something with a little more kick, like a couple of extra heavy bolters, or las cannons?

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

IMO best used as a "counter charge" unit." It's often difficult to get a victorious unit unbunched sufficiently after a close combat.
