Had a newer player hit me with a command squad that had one veteran armed with a plasma gun and a powerfist and another armed with a melta gun and thunder hammer.

he claims per the rules you can exchange the bolt pistol for the plasma gun and then the ccw for the power fist, i told him this was not valid as the plasma gun is two handed

thoughts on the issue

thanks

He was correct on this. There is no longer any stipulations on one and two handed weapons and how many of them you are allowed to have, like in previous editions of 40k.

This is how Characters are allowed Relic Blades (2 handed) and Storm Shields (single handed) at the same time.

That's an expensive configuration.

Hell, even under the old rules you could have a two-handed weapon and a single-handed weapon.

Technically the Stom Shield doesn't have a handedness requirement and is just a piece of wargear that prevents you from getting +1 attack for two weapons, It's really not that big of a deal but I have seen people take a Storm Shield and use that while approaching and then switch off for their double weapons for an extra attack in melee and you can't do that.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Thats exactly what it says in the codex.

Whats that got to do with it? Nothing.

Is it correct that a biker holding a plasma gun can fire it and still assault the same turn? In terms of game play I would rather field a meltagun but I suppose FNP greatly reduces the odds of losing an expensive bike mounted veteran to an overheat.

A new day, a new time zone.

Bikes are Relentless. I have a mounted command squad with three plasma guns in it. The chance of rolling a 1, then failing a 3+ save, then failing a 4+ FNP are rather slim.

What does your bike mounted command squad look like?

And how many points is it?

And are they better suited as a mobile shooting platform or as an assault one?
