For people who have more experience with these than I do...I'm talking about the 100ml cans.

Anyway, first of all, if you've used them would you recommend them? I'm thinking of buying a base color to spray my whole Tau army with (obviously I'll be doing shading and highlighting after), I've seen people paint other models with them and they look pretty good.

Second, we all know how horrible websites are about this...I want a color that best matches the Citadel Shadow Gray, I like the blue-gray color but not having used any of these paints myself I'm not sure if they even make one. The color samples on the website look close (like Haze Gray), but I keep thinking they'll be straight gray when I get them and use them.

The quality is top notch thats for sure.

Very fine , steady mist that comes out, smooth and durable coat too.

Well even the nozzle itself seems better than GW's

I've got mixed feelings about them. I've been using the Dark Yellow for my FoW german vehicles, and it definitely beats painting by hand.

OTOH, you get very little in each can, the paints a bit thick, and it seems to pool. I might be applying a bit too much at a time, but it's very different from the other spray paints that I'm used to. I've also read similar comments in a online review of the paints.

The price is also pretty high, since you get maybe a 1/3 of what you would normally get in a regular spray can. I've also taken to priming my models first, which seems to help some with the pooling effects.

Problem is its more expensive than GW stuff. I use it on things like vehicles where I don't want to basecoat and want to use a colour other than black or white. It's alright and I definitely wouldn't say you shouldn't use it. However don't quite get why your FLGS doesn't stock it most model shops in the UK do. Make sure if your using alternative spray that it's an acrylic not an enamel spray as well. Makes life easier washing stuff out.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. Don't rely on the look of colours on websites. There are lots of factors which affect the colour.

It should be possible to get hold of the colour specification of the paint in some kind of standard system. Use that to make your decision.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Top notch stuff. Used it on an A-10 project with my son a while back. He said it had to be red, so Ferrari Red it was.
1. Relatively very expensive.
2. low volume
3. requires very different handling

1. Very good bang for buck, int hat while you have lower volume for higher price, coverage is excellent with much higher solids content. One pass usu. does it. Painting a dark grey plastic with white? No problem. This helps to offset both 1. and 2. and 3. above, from my usage.

Recommendation: Grab a can, and use it on a test model. You might be very suprised. And yes it WILL puddle and run, but only under the same conditions as any other spray (ie: you have applied far too much). Far too much being very relative here and you dont' wnat to experiment on important models.

How do I go about that?

If you can find a place that stocks it, you should be able to spray a small amoutn onto a piece of cardboard or something to get an idea.

I use the Tamiya spray primer and the quality is excellent.

Only real complaint I have about it is the price, but it's worth it.
