It's been awhile since I logged in here... long enough that I got that automated email from the Machine Spirit.

I figured that was a good enough excuse to post a link here to the blog where I'm talking about the progress I'm making with my own miniatures company, Forge of Ice.

http://forum54.oli.us/index.php?topic=5205.0

I do not now and do not plan to ever release a game, just a series of Lost World/prehistoric-type figures, and some odds and ends that I've had in my head as ideas for years.

Thanks for looking!

Good luck. Didn't read so much of the site. What sort of models are you planning to release? I see tents and peacocks, so scenery?

Please make some bears and rhinos.

We seriously need those 2 , you'll find lots of customers with those.

Well, Copplestone, Foundry, Jeff Valent studios, and Reaper all already make very nice bear miniatures, and I don't plan to ever make one. I even like the new armored bear coming out for Hordes.

Now, rhinos, I agree - Copplestone's rhinos are museum-quality sculpts, but a tad small for most of my games and figures. I do plan to do a rhino eventually (although Maidenhead miniatures' woolly rhino is pretty cool, and the old Grenadier woolly rhino still stands up today as a great and HUGE sculpt).

Those Samurai Elves that Glenn was talking about are his thing, not mine, I don't have anything to do with them, but one of the other guys on the EE forums (Josh Slater or Manic Miner) might be talked into doing them.

Thanks for the compliments on the tents and the peafowl! I'll be releasing prehistoric and Lost World-type figures - the sorts of lost valleys full of prehistoric animals and lost cities and subhumans that Conan the Barbarian and Tarzan seemed to run into over every other hill. There'll be a "Just Another Snake Cult" set, a "Demon Servants of the Ape God" set, and a "Lost City of the Jaguar men" set (inspired by J Allen St John's artwork). But I'm doing this all out of my pocket, mostly tip money from my job at a bar, so I'll release things slowly, as time and money allow. Very much a part-time gig, but hopefully I can make some bits and pieces useful to people from all corners of this hobby.

I can't find the copplestone bear and the Jeff Valent one is standing
upright. Are there any likely ones for being used as mounts?

West Wind studios has a nice bear mount for one of their Dwarf Wars characters:

http://www.westwindproductions.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1_4&products_id=831

And Reaper makes one, too:

http://www.reapermini.com/store/customer/product.php?cat=0&page=1&productid=2403

Reaper makes a couple of others, but I prefer that first one... however, for completeness' sake, here are the other three:

http://www.reapermini.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=5066&cat=0&page=5

http://www.reapermini.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=307&cat=0&page=1

http://www.reapermini.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=398&cat=0&page=1

And a Dire Bear on all fours, shouldn't be too difficult to add a saddle and rider:

http://www.reapermini.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=2394&cat=0&page=2

For that matter, doesn't GW have a Kislev guy mounted on a big bear model? It looked OK, as I recall...

Heh... how'd this happen? I start a thread about my own stuff, and end up pimping other companies' products!

Anything else ya'll are looking for...?

Make rhinos big enough for WHFB Ogres so we don't have to spend so much on Forge World Rhinox.
