I'm Attempting to make a defiler with a lower body of a snake. This will be a log of my attempt. any comment and criticisms will be appreciated.

The Deamonhost will have pipes and wires added to shower it with gore from the mauler on the front of the torso. Yes she will be on the back.

Armor plates will be added to make a kind of funnel into the mauler which will have a set of chains/cables for hauling in guardsmen etc.

These will be epoxied on the snake part to make its back, i need alot more of these lol

are you going to be covering the tail with Gs or super sculpey? or are you gonna leave it as is? (seeing as i don't know the mark i thought i'd ask.)

Im gonna epoxy some armor plates on the backside of the tail, then most likely try my hand at greenstuffing the front side of it. Im really anxious about that part lol...

Eh, all i can offer in terms of advice is keep your hands and any tools moist. a cup of water helps.

I'm waiting on a order of plasticard right now for the armor plating. All i got left on hand is daimond plate and im not using that. Prolly gonna work on the arms next.

You really shouldn't be worried about size. The last I heard about the unwritten laws of warhammer were you could always scale models up for artistic freedom - but making them smaller/laying down/miniature bases were grounds for being labeled a power gamer.

I highly doubt - even with a much taller firing mount - that a defiler that cannot effectively gain cover 100% of the time will be ill received.

To comment on the model, I have no idea where you're going with the snake body but I'm interested to find out!

Any updates on this beast from the eastern half of the galaxy.

Built part of my battlecannon, added a few bits to the deamonhost part. nothing worth posting pics of yet. Waiting on a pack of plasticard to show up for anything substantial. Gonna take a stab at the CC arms while im waiting on materials. Will post pics of those whan i get em done. Thanks for the interest, makes for a good motivator.

Ok small update on the torso. added a upper plate on the "sarcophogus" with a chaos symbol and a pair of drains to rain gore down on her. Added the battle cannon and the firt bit of armor plating, rather the housing for the mauler and battlecannon. The Cannon its self is gonna get a little more work, a few small curved blades around the end of the barrel i think.

So, I'm most interested to see how the top part that you've been working on will connect with the snake tail. I can't quite picture yet how they'll go together, though each look good separately so far!

I really like the idea of the model, one idea with the armour on the tail. Actually use the defiler leg armour and green stuff some form of skin like thing inside the gap to show the deamon taking over the machine, also are you going to make it god specific such as the brass scorpion, Slaanesh would be cool because of the tail. Also barbes and spikes on the tail would look groovy! ^_^

Well im making it to go along with my Chaos army Deviants of Mars. I wanted a bit of mechanicus flavor for it. I tend to swap out gods quite a bit. I would like to make it a Slaaneshi defiler, but ill prolly end up leaving it undivided or maybe magnetising the marks just for fun.

I like the idea about using the defiler plates, but im gonna try to do it from scratch first. Kinda a personal challenge kinda thing.

Hmmm yea I like the ideo of a renegade Mars army, but the defiler was always chaos' idea wasn't it? Oh yea, try doing a screaming face with the cannonn coming out of the mouth like the normal defiler it looks awesome! For a renegade mars army some traitor guardsmen from Forgeworld would look cool and maybie a renegade titan?

Yeah initially my army was a lost and the damned force with the same theme. When the new chaos dex came out i felt kinda cheesy keepin my old army. I used to have a full squad of chaosed sentinels, a couple spikey leman russ', and a whole mess of guardsmen. I like the theme, but wanted to apply it to chaos.

I finally got my plasticard so work continues. below is the bottom half of one of the combat arms. Forgive my sculpting skills, its a new skill for me. Kinda looking for an opinion on it, im not sure if i should leave the claws as is kinda flayed one style, or add a thumb in the opposite direction. These arms will be permenantly attatched to the right and left of the "mangler" and will be the two cc arms of the defiler that cant be swapped out weapon wise. the other two will be bigger/beefyer and attatch more on the sides. those i plan to have magnetized so i can swap out weapon options. (edited to add more content)



Also started adding the back armor plating to the snake body, i gotta find a better way of doing this. Epoxy was not fun in this application lol.

Well, it's an interesting start...

Well after numerous attempts and untold hours of trying to attatch armor plating to the wire body, i scrapped it in favor of a less intensive approach. I went to target and got a high def rattler model. below is the WIP which is coming along nicely. The armor plating is nearly done. Hopefully now that the giant pain in the butt of the wire skeleton i was building on is gone i can progress a bit faster. Below each armored plate i modeled a pair of hydraulic screw type devices theoretically to aid in locomotion and because i think it looks cool. Looking forward to feedback.
