I was reading a lot about fitting carnifex' (or carnifeces for the plural? lol) with various sets of weapons.
I know a dakkafex is the two twin linked Devourers and other upgrades
I know a Gunfex has a VC and BS and other upgrades
But what are these other ones I see? Ninjafex, Blasterfex and especially Godfex...? What are these kitted with exactly?
Id love to know about this,
Thanks

There are 3 major categories of Fexs, and each category has one or more subclasses seen.
Anti-Infantry:
Elite Dakka = 2 x TL Devourer, +1BS
Or
Heavy Dakka = 2 x TL Devourer, +1BS, +1W, +1T or +1Sv
Anti-Tank:
Heavy Gunfex = VC and BS, +1 BS, +1W, +1T or +1SV
Both anti-tank and anti-Infantry but melee based:
Elite Melee = 2 x scything talons, +1WS, Toxic Miasma
Or
Elite Melee = 2 x scything talons, +1WS, +1I, Flesh hooks
Or
God Fex = 2 x scything talons, +1WS, +1I, +1W, +1S, +1T, +1Sv, Toxic Miasma, Spinebanks, Tail of your choice
As for the names people just make them up as they go along.

You may see some people with different weapons setups, but you would do best to ignore most of them. An example is a "Blast-Fex" = BS, Deathspitter, +1BS, +1W, etc. IMO this is nothing but an overpriced warrior squad. You would need to cover 7-8 models with this every turn to kill as many units as a dakka-fex, while there is an argument that it can sit back farther and shoot, I can't see paying the 30ish extra points, and a Heavy slot for 6" more range and a more erratic number of wounds.

"God Fex" can apply to any carnifex that has just about all the upgrades regardless of what weapon bio-morphs it has.
Dakka Fex's apply to any Carnifex armed with dual devourers, while Gun Fex applies to Carnifex armed with a Venon Cannon and Barbed Strangler.

The boomfex an elite fex with barb strangler and scything talons is pretty good in 5th. Dakka fexs aren't too good at anti armor and the barb strangler kills more against hordes and is strength 8 versus nob bikers for insta kills so I think its pretty good. If you play Marines all the time then the Dakkafex is slightly better.

Remember that all the names are just shorthand so people don't have to explain everything they have on their big bugs. What Clthomps said is right. Make sure you're not overpricing your carnifex just because it looks cool. Deathspitters are indeed useless. It's +1S but the fex is already s9. You've wasted 2 points of strength. You have to do the math and see if the thing is going to make its points back. A god-fex ends up being just shy of 200 points. Are you going to bag that many points? Will it actually make it to that tank or elite squad? Remember that bugs are still, always, and will be better in quantity than in quality.

I regularly field a God-fex/Deathbeetle/point sink.
I have almost always been happy with its performance as well.
It is rarely a matter of "making its points back" though. The amount of fire/punishment/attention it survives is worth it almost alone. It gives cover to squishier targets, and refuses to be ignored.

I think in a way that is making its points back: If it protects other units that you're really intending to use that's keeping more valuable points alive.
Comparing Gala Apples to Granny Smith perhaps?
