Well, it depends on the role you want it to lay in your army. I personally am a fan of the Vindicator model, but I know many are not.

From most of the lists and things I say in our tactics forum, the Land Raider Redeemer seems the Space Marine tank of choice.

Well, the only tank that combines them well is the Land Raider. It can carry a full squad and has decent firepower. Other option is the Razorback. Decent firepower and more customizeable than the land raider but has the drawback in that it's only useful as a transport if you combat squad your units.

I picked up a Vindicator and a Land Raider Redeemer. I'm currently looking for a set of lascannons so that I can make the sponson weapons interchangeable.

Hi,
Take this into account:
1) If you are playing games of thousand points or less
I'd suggest a Razorback and a Destructor
2)Above 1000pts,the obvious choice is a Land Raider.
3)If you are new to kit building,I'd suggest a Rhino,as
something like a Land Raider can be a pain to put
together.

Well, the predator and vindicator are the only tanks by definition of the word, but the land raider is a powerful enough IFV to count too I guess, but I'll leave it out...

The vindie carries the almighty demolisher cannon, a favorite of IG players, and can easily destroy termie squads. The pred is cheap points-wise and reliable, and my be upgraded with some punishing hardware, obcene amounts of dakka (2 heavy bolters, autocannon, and storm bolter!) or tank hunting fury with 3 lascannons (and one is TL!!)

Predators are pretty decent bargains, and fairly tough to boot.

They are also flexible if you get clever with the construction.

For a small army (and I know others will disagree with me here!) Twin Lascannon Turret and Heavy Bolter Sponsons will give you a decent range of firepower, without shelling out a huge amount of points.

And for additional firepower, don't forget the pintle Storm Bolter and Hunter Killer. As Tesco say, every little helps.

At that point level, a LR is unneccisary, two preds and a whirwind (for the same points!) will likely get you farther. at 1.5k, you can fit 2 LR's and not much else. Yes, they are large and forboding, but I can tell you that they WILL be taking fire from turn one and will continue to be until destroyed. What's worse is that is one third of your army will then be gone, and your infantry easily mopped up...
LR's IMO, are for big games around 2k+ unless you straight out spam them, and then you're a jerk...

If you are looking at adding a couple, I'd reccomend a pair of Predators in that case.

Tank Squaring is a good tactic. You double your firepower, and double the enemies difficulty in neutralising it.

Plus, if you build one to be a Destructor (Lascannon Sponson and Twin Lascannon Turret) and the other one a classic (Autocannon Turret and Heavy Bolter sponsons) you can freely switch the turrets around between games, giving you literally more bang for your buck.

Yes, I run 2 predators, 1 with las cannon and bolter sponsons and one with autocannon and las sponsons. That combo works well for me.
