Ok, harlie fusion pistols are 6" range melta weapons.
Do they do 2d6 at half range (3")?
Or since they are pistols do they do 2d6" at full 6"?
Ive always wondered this but havent fielded harlies till now.
Thanks!

Since it counts as a melta wep (wep profile) that it would follow the regular BRB rules for melta wepons on page 32. So yes 2d6 @ 3 inches, d6 at 6. Its range is 6" its clasified as a pistol for the +1 CC attack. Kind of silly to have to get within 3 inches for 2d6 but they seem like a great way to sneak a few more melta wep into an army.

They're no different than the Inquisition's Inferno pistols. Well, except for being cheaper and having AP1 instead of AP2. My Canoness has taken out a number of tanks and other heavily armored targets with one.

I question their usefulness in quin units but as a melta weapon you get 2d6 at half range...which would be 3" for them.

Id be careful making a comparison to them. While functionally the same, Inferno Pistols don't have the "Melta" Special rule listed for them like Fusion Pistols do. They are just given the same game effect through their description as what "Melta" currently gets.

Bottom line is that fusion pistols are 'melta' weapons, hence 2d6 at half range, right? And if it's only a 6" weapon that means it'll be 3". Is this correct?

Yes. Melat weapons are at 1/2 of Max range for 2D6 pen. So if max is 6" then 3" gets the 2d6.

Alright, topic settled then. Not that I've ever had an argument over it but it's good info to have on hand...
