The Eye of Terror

Well, I plan to go to my local GW store and test this list out this Thursday. Any thoughts, tips, suggestions? I just need a pretty solid list that can stand its own against Space Marines and Eldar.

Daemon Prince w/ Wings, MoT, BoC, and Doombolt = 185
2 Obliterators = 150
Defiler = 150
7 Plague Marines + Plasma Gun = 176
8 Berzerkers = 168
8 Berzerkers = 168

Total: 997 pts.

(On an unrelated note, I keep getting tabled by Dark Eldar, but that's just one guy.)

Interesting choice of psychic powers on the Prince. I think warptime would be a better choice than Doombolt for sure as it increases the Prince's combat effectiveness drastically.

You might improve your matchup against DE by dropping a unit of Berserkers in favor of something that can put down a solid amount of firepower. If he is playing a very mechanized version something that is good at dropping his skimmers is ideal. If it is more horde style then anti infantry shooting is ideal. I'd probably recommend a unit of Sonic Blaster equipped Noise Marines with a Blastmaster in the unit. The NMs will be good against normal Eldar and SM as well based on volume of shots if nothing else. Use them to camp your home objective. I'd also try to find the points to put the Plague Marines and a unit of Berserkers in Rhinos since your army is so static right now. Mobility is a very important part of 5th edition 40k and Rhinos will help you be more mobile.

Okay, since I don't have access to Noise Marines, I replaced a few things.

Updated list:

Daemon Prince w Wings, MoT, BoC, and Warptime = 200
3 Obliterators = 225
8 Berzerkers + Personal Icon = 173
8 Berzerkers + plasma pistol, Personal Icon...and Rhino = 223
7 Plague Marines + Plasma Gun = 223

Total = 997 pts.

I got rid of the Defiler....but I kinda miss the Battlecannon Ordnance template.

200 points is way too much to spend on a prince on a 1000 pt list, thats 1/5 your army for a single model. BoC isn't even necessary on such a model, they're expert tank killers as it is, as well as very dangerous to infantry.

3 Obliterators is beautiful at this points cost.

Berzerkers should always be in a vehicle, as well as having a champ with power weapon, otherwise they just go to waste in either situation. Drop the plasma pistol too, Your going to get to use it once, whereas if you put that towards a power weapon you can really take advantage of zerker's specialty (close combat). What are the personal icons for?

Plague marines always, always, should have powerfists, as well as 2 special weapons. In the end I'd consider dropping one of your troop choices and beefing up the other 2 squads as well as making sure they both have rhinos.

Such as like -

DP Wings, MoT, WT 175

10 Plague Marines, 2x Melta, AC, PF, Rhino 325
10 Berzerkers, AC, PW, Rhino 275

3 Obliterators 225

Just be sure to lead with the plague marine rhino so as to give the other cover, the last thing you want is your zerkers getting stranded. If plague marines do they still have good mid-range capabilities, and are tough enough to footslog the rest of the way. Use them to tie up units while the zerkers furious charge even if it means the plague marines get charged themselves (this is the best use of blight grenades). You might even consider giving the DP MoN, and having him fly directly behind one rhinos (back one) for the 4+ the whole way there. Keep your obliterators close providing cover fire and always move them forward. Consider putting them each as their own unit if kill points is not an issue for you.

Good luck mate

Cheers

I don't know...just two scoring units don't seem very appetizing. Then again, the 3 Obliterators can take care of most things right? Too bad they're not immune to Instant Death.

Obliteraters turn to dust against pk's so thats all you need to watch out for i think.
