Does a broken unit count as scoring (and/or contesting) if its within 3" of the objective. I looked everywhere in the main rule book and there is nothing in the missions section, nothing in the morale section, but there is something on one of the very last pages of the rulebook under victory points that says that a broken unit counts as destroyed for victory point conditions. This might be an obvious thing, but I didn't notice anything about objective based missions.

Units don't break in this game.

They can fall back though.

Units falling back is still scoring.

Edit: I was wrong. I obviously don't play enough. See below for the correct answer.

In one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 6", kill a few guys with his flamer, assault 6", kill two more guys with his bayonet, flee 12", regroup when assaulted, react 6", kill one more guy with his bayonet and then flee another 12".
So in one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 42" and kill more than 5 people. At the same time a Chimera at top speed on a road can move 18"...

Nope sorry,BRB pg. 90
"....all units that are falling back are removed and count as destroyed."

Who are all these people, and why aren't they dead?

Where are you quoting this? There is nothing like this on pg90, and I see nothing like that on any pages near it.

Open the rulebook to page 90, First Column, "Ending the Game" Section, second paragraph. second line, 6th word and onwards it states "....all units that are falling back are removed and count as destroyed."

If brute force doesn't work, you're not using enough...

In standard missions, as soon as the game ends and
before working out victory conditions, all units that are
falling back are removed and count as destroyed.

Key words being "before working out victory conditions."
