Subject: Callidus as tankhunter's best friend?

Hello everybody. I have a question concerning the Callidus assassin. A friend of mine used it in his Witchhunter/ SoB army, which also contained an exorcist. Playing against another buddy's Tau, he used the Callidus' power to move the enemy Hammerhead out of cover an into LOS of his exorcist. The facing of the Hammerhead remained the same. After the game we got to think if he would have been allowed to even turn the tank around, making it's rear facing the exorcist for obvious advantages. I could't really judge because i don't know the exact wording, so if anyone of you could help me out, i would greatly appreciate that

Awesome Autarch

It simply says you move the unit 6 inches, implying that you can have it facing any direction you choose. Unless there is a faq addressing that issue, it wouldn´t be a problem.

Owner of the vehicle gets to pick the facing. Don't remember if this is from an old FAQ or from Callidus rules, but it is so. Support for this, you have to take multiple Callidus in Apoc to get to choose the facing when you move a vehicle. If one was all it took, you wouldn't need multiple.............

Checked the FAQ again.
Much interesting stuff there, really, but it doesn't answer my question.
If don_mondo is correct, it must be stated in the rules directly.
Anyone got the codex in hand?
Thank you so far!

Unfortunately the Codex itself states very clearly that the "The Units new position must be within the normal deployment zone, and the owning player may choose the facing of the unit after it has been moved." How ever don't let you think that makes this ability weak at all theres a ton of really nasty things you can do with this ability. Moving vehicles out of cover is a good one, other things include Group Hug! (bunch that big mob into ordinance bait) Quick Hide! (move a Heavy weapons crew out of LOS making it lose it's turn getting back into a position it can shoot from) Spread out! (move a unit out of coherency again forcing it to waste time coming back together Similar to Quick Hide but can have some interesting side effects, cover saves?) Did it say "Move?" (Yes the wording is that you move the unit, which will initiate difficult and dangerous terrain tests. Mmmm tasty Landraider with Termies) For Apoc there is a Data fax that you can Download from the GW website (so it's official) that lets you take multiple assasins and will then let you choose the facing as well as move the unit.

Others:
Move those bikes into difficult terrain. No turboboost if in DT and a dangerous terrain test when they do move out.
Gee, your Thundefire is in the bolstered ruin and gets a 3+ save...... No, it's not, in fact, it doesn't get any save out there in front of the building.
Wow, you infiltrated that nasty close combat unit out of LOS and might get a first turn assault? Nahhh, let's move them that way and out where I can see them........... Bang bang.
I've gotten lucky over the years and had skimmers crash, units spend tow or three turns struggling through difficult terrain to get back to where they started, and so on. The Callidus is my sweety, and I'd pay half her points just for the Word in Your Ear ability. Add in the Neural Shredder and Phase Sword with her "show up whereever I want" ability, and it's a nice package deal.
