Are they too expensive? On the charge and fully kitted out they can deal like 50+ armor negating wounds. Seems nice against MEQ. Anyone mind giving me their 2cents on the matter?

I've used them a few times and they perform well. However, they are too expensive to use in anything smaller than 2000pt games.

Pricey but...

35 pts for 2+ armor, 2 attacks and a power weapon.
Add the banner and +1 attack.

The tough part is 40 pts = 1 terminator.
2+ armor, 2 attacks, power weapon/fist/hammer/shield and at minimum a 5+ invulnerable.

If for some reason you want a tough HTH unit, want them mobile but don't want landraiders... well, them maybe they are the right thing for you.

Other downside is you must take a chapter master... compare that to a command squad and we have a worse save, no auto power weapon but you get feel no pain.

It is a legitimate choice but termies and command squads are a bit more resiliant so unless you are playing really high point totals, I think termies and command squads win out.

I agree with terminators being a better value, however sometimes it would be nice to hit with 50 power weapon attacks at I4 than 20-30 power fist attacks at I1.

It is generally accepted that honor guard is overpriced pointwise for what you get. That being said, use the termies. $ wise Termies are turning into some of the cheaper models to aquire, vs a $35 honor guard squad.

That's the problem with the Assault Terminators. Every time I think about bringing a cool, elite, hth unit, I always come back to, "but for 200 points I could have assault terminators"

If the honor guard had an apothacary, THEN they'd be scary enough to see some real use.

Id say the honour guard squad would be a good choice if you filled your elite choices with other non-termie units.. say drednoughts.

Another thing that is more useful is the fact that termies cant sweeping advance. I LOVE sweeping advances! I may run my honour guard against a Necron player I know. that is taloring but i just want to see them in action!

Yeah, Honour Guard is ehhhh, so are the Chapter Masters. Captains and Command Squads on bikes are like, downright scary tho.

what is the best way to kit out a Bike command squad though? all flamers? all power weapons? all power fists? mix it up? lightning claws?

in an all comers list how should one do it without totally point sinking their value

You can ask froggage, dunno if he'll answer you tho. From what I can gather, Lightning Claws and Storm Shields plus a Chaplain (reroll to hit, reroll to wound, 3++ inv, FNP).

It's 600pts... it's NASTY but the biggest problem? Cost... no invulnerable

How i plan on running them...

10x Honour Guard - Company Standard
Kahn - For Furious Charge

That is 51x S5 I5 power weapon attacks from the honour
5x S7 I6 WS6 Relic blade attacks
6x S5 I6 WS6 Instant Death on a 6 attacks

Riding in a LR Redeemer w/ Multi- Melta for a grand total of... 980pts The intent is to spread out the 12 models on the charge to engage as many units as possible and WIPE them out.

oh and the craziest part is they can Outflank.
