Orks vs. Demons.

Ork player has an IC inside a battlewagon with some boyz.
Demon player has fateweaver.

Can fateweaver use boon of mutation on the IC in the wagon (No line of sight is required)?

If he can, what happens to the spawn that is created? If it can be created, it should be 1" away from the wagon, correct?

Comparing tournament records is another form of e-peen measuring.

You can't target units inside transports, so it'd be pretty tough to use boon on a model that's mounted-up.

Agreed. Models inside a transport are untargetable, regardless of whether or not line of sight is needed.

What? You mean I can't fire my mortars at a unit in a Land Raider?

It's one of those things we all know can't happen but they really should have put it in the rules. IMHO it's the biggest omission in the 5th edition rulebook (that units embarked on a vehicle cannot be targeted).

The most rational argument that I can conjure in favor of using Boon of Mutation (or Gift of Chaos) against a unit in a transport is that there is a defined method of measuring the distance to the unit in the transport. But the problem is that both powers are used against specific models in the unit and not the unit in general.

So unless the unit in the transport is a single model, the distance to the unit isn't the distance to any particular model in the unit, and there's no way to determine whether the target model is within 6". If the entire transport is within 6", a person could argue that every model in the unit would have to be within 6" but that requires an appeal to common sense rather than rules.

Of course the major problem with targeting a model in a transport with either power is where the spawn model would go if the toughness test is failed.
