I have a 2v2 wtih my friend tonight and need to know how the the special rule for drop pod assault for space marines works.. Half of drop pods land using deep strike rules, and can shoot like usual. Are they allowed to assault after exiting a drop pod? On my 2nd turn they go back to normal by only being allowed to shoot after disembarking. Is what I said correct?

Not to be rude but have you not tried reading the marine codex?
Basically you can't assault if you deep strike, and no saying the pod deep striked and guys inside didn't won't convince anyone. Its in the "I didn't hit him, I hit him with a stick" line of thinking.

That's actually not the issue, it's not that it's a bad argument and indeed it would be perfectly justified if not for the fact that the Deep Strike rules refer to both transports and the units inside them as "deep striking units" meaning both are considered to have made a deep strike that turn.

To be honest I did, but I guess I didn't read a section or completely misread something. Since you know how it goes though, please explain.

No sir. You go back and re-read the rules, then come back to us with anything you're not understanding.

After deepstriking, marines disembark, and have a snack.
The drop pod falls over, and turns into a 'death roller'. Since the DR didn't deepstrike, it can assault. Pick a direction and kick your drop poddy roller of death across the table. Any thing it knocks over is dead forever and you get to keep the models.

Mikhaila, is mostly right except he forgot that the deff rolla can only Tank Shock. This means you don't remove and keep the vehicles, only the infantry.

The space marines inside a drop pod are a deepstriking unit, just like teleporting terminators or assault marines deep striking by thier backpacks, they follow all the normal deep strike rules.

I'm not sure if anyone understood my gibberish on the first post. This is how I interpreted it. If it is wrong, please correct it. On turn one, you are allowed to drop in a half of your total drop pods and the units inside the pod disembark like normal. The squad is only allowed to shoot after disembarking. The remaining drop pods drop in like normal on the following turns. After turn one is over the squads are allowed to do their usual movement, shooting, and assault phases. Correct or incorrect?

Sound almost correct. The unit disembarking may opt to run instead of shooting. When the remaining pods come in, they of course have the same restrictions. Just to make sure tho, the remaining pods "drop in like normel" does include Reserve rolls.

Still not quite sure what you're asking here.
IF its about the units that turned up on turn one, then on turn two they're able to move, shoot and assault normally because they didn't deep strike that turn.
Does that help?

@ don_mondo: I forgot they could run, thank you.
@ hymirl: Well, I meant that on the 2nd turn, the remaining drop pods would roll for reserves like normal. Also, the troops that were DS in and embarked from the drop pod could move, shoot (or run) and assault like normal.
My updated rule for the drop pod assault rules is as follows: On turn one, you choose half of your DS'ing units (rounded up of course) and deploy them by using the DS rules. The troops inside the drop pods disembark and may opt to shoot or run, but cannot assault. On turn two, you roll for reserves as any normal game and DS if allowed. The squad that disembarked from the drop pod on turn one may move, shoot (or run) and assault as normal. If a drop pod DS'ed on the second turn, it would use the DS rules and the squad would disembark from the drop pod. This squad would only be able to shoot or run, but cannot assault as they just DS'ed into battle.
Do we all agree?

Sorry to be a dick, but by your own admission you had misread, or missed something. This request was akin to asking us to write the rules just for the sake of writing the rules. GW lets us post rules for the sake of clarification, however they frown on 'giving' somebody the rules if they don't own a copy. After going back and re-reading them you were much clearer in you questions, allowing us to paraphrase or quote partial rules to clear things up for you. (Not that I did any of that....) Please bear this in mind in the future.

Yeah, but to be honest if I didn't have the codex, I probably wouldn't know about the drop pod assault rules unless i played a marine player. It's cool though, I re-read it and understood it a little better, fixed my question and I got the help that I needed. You weren't a dick, so its all gravy dude.
