I was just looking over the sniper tactics on the GW site and it says they hit on a 2+. Is this true? Or do you have to roll their BS in order to hit?

You're probably looking at an article left over from 3rd or 4th edition.

That's what I thought. So you use their BS in determining hits like any other unit.

Sniper is a weapon characteristic like melta or blast. If the description says nothing of changing the way they hit then you use the standard procedure.

In one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 6", kill a few guys with his flamer, assault 6", kill two more guys with his bayonet, flee 12", regroup when assaulted, react 6", kill one more guy with his bayonet and then flee another 12".
So in one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 42" and kill more than 5 people. At the same time a Chimera at top speed on a road can move 18"...

The models that are wounded by a sniper rifle are still entitled to an armour save/cover save correct? It says that it wounds on a 4+, with a roll of 6 delivering a wound and counts as AP2. Judging from that I think that a roll of 4 or 5 to wound would still give the opposing troop an armour/cover save.

That is correct, Sniper Rifles do allow armor or cover saves (also Invulnerable saves).

You are indeed correct. Even on a Roll to Wound of 6 A sniper only Counts as AP2, that means they still get cover/Invulnerable.

Am I the only one finding that sentence odd?

As if AP had any relevance in allowing cover/invulnerable saves.

I sort of see what you mean. AP doesn't apply to cover saves in which you could choose. The invulnerable save is just common knowledge.
