Hello all,

I have never played in a tournament and I have only played a handful of games in total.

I am however looking to create an interesting Daemon army, and would like some assistance from people who have experience in creating good lists.

Constraints:

1. Fun and feel is more important to me that a kill all list, but I also don't want to be tabled in every game!
2. I would like to include at the minimum a Soulgrinder (that I'm currently making), Plague bearers and Nurglings.
3. Old school, Nurgle wouldn't touch Tzeentch or Slanesh - so prefer Khorne and Nurgle or mono-Nurgle (although not set in stone).

The comp I'm aiming at building for is in Jan 2010 and is 1200 points, with additional points handed out for fluff and hobby effort with points deducted potentially for spam lists.

Any assistance much appreciated.

Cheers

Tim

well,

2 soulgrinders. 270(w/o phlegm)
Phlegm or none, thanks to c99 i tend to run them naked.

7x3 PLague bearers 315pts

5x2 Nurgling bases 130pts (not too familiar fielding these guys but you wanted them. )

4x2 Blood Crushers 320pts (no upgrades)

1 Great unclean one with cloud of flies. 165 pts.

Clocks in at 1200 pts to the dot. hope that helps. not really familiar with nurgle armies in general.

qwekel wants to get bigger, please click on him and level him up.

Nurglings are good for contesting obj. because of the low profile and the 3 wounds with eternal warrior.

Agree with two soul grinders, 1 attracts too much AT fire. An Epidemius list is pretty fun and fairly strong.

Thanks Enmitee

That looks pretty cool actually - and reasonably tough. Also, the GUO would be nice to have in there too!

So - drop plague bearers on objectives on my side, drop Nurglings in cover (with +1 cover save from stealth) within striking distance of contesting other objectives. Crushers drop so they can assault - perhaps behind the grinders for cover.

So - drop one grinider, 2 crushers, GUO and nurglings in preferred wave - one grinder, 3 PB and one nurgling in the second wave.

So, with preferred wave down there should be some confusion as to what should be targeted with high AP weapons - AV13 grinder, FnP GUO or AV3+ crushers.

Antitank would be down to the GUO and the grinders (Phlegm or CC).

I like the idea of an Epidemius list, however I think it breaks with Soulgrinders - especially in 1200 points.

Thanks for the thoughts.

Sounds like Khorn/nurgle is your best bet at flexibility and hitting ability. Starting with a bloodthirster (/w unholy might) and great unclean one (/w breath of chaos and cloud of flies) will cost you 465 points. Adding in a naked soul grinder will bring that toal to 600 points.

Three troop units are a good idea, although you could probably get away with two, if those units are large enough. 2x8 bloodletters and 14 plaguebearers /w an icon are 491 points, which leaves you with 109 points for bulking out the bloodletters, or taking an elite or fast attack unit.

To fit in a Blood Thirster, I would essentially have to do away with the crushers. I like the idea of having a fast monstrous creature to deal with troublesome nasties, but everything I read talks about how great crushers are on the table (heaps of strength 5 power weapon attacks).

Is a BT worth 8 crushers?

Thanks

a BT will also take alot of fire from the soul grinders. I tend to use 3 soul grinders in larger games but i have run them with a GUO and a few plague bearers in some 1000 point games for shear sillyness
