Those are almost my exact lists for running Xerxis.

I think at 750 I dropped some preats to take a Rhinodon and more paingivers.
Hope they work out well for you.

Duh. Second list has Ferox.

500 point battle: Mental note, don't charge Xerxis through models just because you can.

Especially not if the charged model is as worthless as a Mannikin! I was able to pop Xerxis on the bottom of Turn 2.

So oomiestompa asked if I Xerxis had a ranged spell to do what I needed to do. Basically, I wanted
Xerxis to deal with a mannikin so that my Cetrati could advance unmolested. However with
a 5 Fury stat and an offensive spell that costs 3 Fury, there's no way I could hope to hit or deviate and
boost blast damage.

However, my SECOND mistake was that I didn't measure my control area after the charge. If I had,
I would have surmised that I didn't have Reach on the Sentry stone ANYWAY, and so I would
have just advanced them in Shieldwall to protect Xerxis.

Oh well. You win some, you lose the rest.

I might have to adjust the army to this:

Faction: Skorne
Points: 495
Model Count: 21
Victory Points: 18

Tyrant Xerxis
Basilisk Krea
Titan Cannoneer
Ancestral Guardian
Extoller Soulward
Cataphract Cetrati [5] (1 added)
Praetorian Swordsmen [9] (3 added)
> Praetorian Officer & Standard Bearer [2]

At least once I'v painted the Soulward (probably 1-2 months away from even starting).

Essentially, I've dropped the pain givers and added 1 Swordsman in order to fit the
Soulward. I don't know if it'll be enough, but a POW 15 cannon shot to the face of that
freakin Sentry Stone should at least be satisfying.

Another option (since I rarely field the unpainted stuff these days, and that Extoller is a long
way from getting painted) is to swap the Cetrati for Ferox. I lose some defense and gain
some mobility. I don't know.

Xerxis with Ferox vs. Baldur with Megalith.

I got lucky and managed to ace the Megalith in Turn 2, and then I pushed
my luck and tried to threaten Baldur. Loss 3 this month against oomiestompa.

The Tyrant Commander and Standard would be a great addition to your list when they come out. They will give your units set defense or pathfinder. I know it's alot of points, but in a way it's like a Fell Caller, but for Skorne. The Tyrant aint bad either with MAT8 and a P+S 13 reach attack.

I dont know alot about Skorne, but I said this once already. I believe the Krea is amazing. With the new Cyclops Shaman though, I think moor doors have opened for Skorne. Casting the Krea's animus for only 1 fury is great, and it can protect her since the Shaman can be the 8" out in front. It's DEF is 15 on a charge, slam, magic attack, and ranged attack, and on the last two it gets a free move if they miss. This added alot of mobility to the Skorne, which I see they lack.

Take it with a grain of salt, since I'm sure you know way more then I could possibly know about this Fraction.

Sometimes you just have to let em' go...

Maybe I can try Shaman + Krea to try to find points for the Tyrant. I'm not very good
at balancing armies at 500 points.

That would mean buying a Shaman though...

Maybe I want to try the following:

Faction: Skorne
Points: 499
Model Count: 18
Victory Points: 20

Tyrant Xerxis
Basilisk Krea
Titan Cannoneer
Extoller Soulward
Cataphract Cetrati [5]
Paingiver Beast Handlers [5]
Praetorian Ferox [3]
Swamp Gobber Bellows Crew

Tough wing and fast wing. Cetrati and Gobbers cover Xerxis, Ferox threaten
the flanks. I'm giving up the extra Swordsmen attacks but I'm also planning on
not committing the Ferox until absolutely necessary.

oomiestompa:

Absolutely forgot two more things.

1. I keep forgetting Eyeless sight.
2. I keep forgetting that the Krea has a ranged attack that debuffs warbeasts.

Augh.

1) In our last game, I was always telling you my flat DEF when you were shooting with the Krea. So I remembered that, though I suppose you might have chosen your targets differently.

2) The Krea has a ranged attack? *Checks Battle College* Huh. Yeah, you should have been using that.

1. I know. I just posted it here to indicate my original forgetfulness.

2.Lol, yeah. It would have made a huge difference against the Woldwarden, I think, and maybe
I would have been brave enough to try to tag the Woldwyrd with it, too.

Fought this against a Feora list with Zealots + MB, Flameguard + UA, min. Cleansers
ad Daughters, Rhupert and Devout.

Extoller gave me a nice shot against Rhupert. Thanatos73 laughed at me when I
boosted damage, but I wanted to make sure. Krea helped keep the Flameguard
from charging me and clogging my lanes.

Ferox went after the Cleansers with Merciless assault, and almost failed to kill
them. Instead of using Incinerate to counter them, he used spray attacks. He
finally managed to kill one with a Devout + Blazing Effigy. However, that meant
that Feora was too close to the front lines wthout much protection. She used her
feat, and most of my models were in range and on fire.

Deviating Fire Bombs eliminated my pain givers and my Extoller. I would have kept
him further back, but the Daughters were encircling so I moved him closer to my
warbeasts to get him behind some ruins. So instead of daggers, Thanatos73 hit me
with Firebombs. They almost managed to get my Krea while they were at it.

With the debuff on his Temple Flameguard and no Rhupert in sight, the Temple
Flameguard advanced in Shieldwall only 3" (to keep tight formation) and used
Iron Zeal to make them ARM 22.

On my turn, I lost a Cetrati to fire, and Xerxis took a point.

I upkept Merciless Assault but let Armor of Karrack drop from the Titan. The Ferox
moved and then jumped into Melee with Feora. I think of the two attacks from one
model only one hit for like one damage.

I used the Titan to stand still and shoot an Iron Zealed TFG in my way. Boosted to
hit and then damage, and he was gone.

Moved my swamp gobbers out of Xerxis's way, who promptly feated and charged
Feora, eating two freestrikes from the Temple Flameguard. They combined and
dealt some damage to him.

Boosted to hit (no crit), and gained an additional damage die for the charge. Rolled
high enough to kill Feora (she had 2 focus, I think). If she had 15 boxes left, I was
rolling dice minus 1 on the combo strike. So I rolled higher than average to kill her.

If I'd rolled lower, I could have bought have two more boosted attacks, or four unboosted
attacks to hit her. With the additional die from Annhilator I probably would have bought
additional attacks and hoping for average (2 hits with three dice both at minus 6 damage).

Forgot to roll to see how much damage she did on explosion.

I wonder how much of this win was a "Your feat does what?"

I blame it on not having played in several months. Maybe a bit of "your feat does what?" but not too much. Mostly I think it was using several units I never have (daughters and clensers) and being too excited about fire once again. Should have kept the Devout protecting Feora where it belonged, not setting it on fire to kill one Ferox. I misjudged the distance, but shouldn't have sent the Devout to do that anyway. But as you said, you win some, you lose the rest.

vs. Saeryn
Doesn't really count, does it? I was playing against my brother teaching him how to
play. I actually won this time!

vs. eKreoss

I don't have enough Skorne models, so I added a Bronzeback, Swordsmen +UA and
Ancestral Guardian to his 750.

Thing is, I know what eKreoss can do, and I jacked up my own play pretty bad at
the end. I forgot I had run my Cannoneer hot with two boosts and Diminish, so I
riled my Bronzeback up to 5 Fury (Armor of Karrak = ARM 24, har har har) and relied
on Diminish on Xerxis and Paralytic Aura to keep him safe.

Senny killed the Krea. EKReoss ate Xerxis. No transfers allowed.
