Deployment
We roll deployment we get spearhead, Deffskullswhip_all wins the roll and decides to go first. All the Tau deploy on one side of the field with fire warrior squad 2 in rubble and squad 1 behind in a building providing cover fire for squad 2, Piranha and commander and bodyguard ready to jump to the of side of the field .

My deployment my 2 tactical squads deploy in a massive building ready to break cover and try the engage fire warrior squad 1, Sternguard 1,2 and Kanto ready to charge staright up the flank to provide a helping hand to the tactical squads.

Stealth suits infiltrate behind my lines in a building (How that happen?). Kroot infiltrate next a building ready to make a made run for cover in the first turn.

We roll Annihilation and I seized the initiative Deffskullswhip¬_all face was hilarious

My turn 1
Moving: Tactical Squad 1 breaks cover with the roll of a six, sternguard squad 2 turns around and moves towards stealth suits, Kanto and his squad move toward kroot.
Shooting: Tactical squad 2 shoot at fire warrior squad 2 thanks to bad rolling and great cover saves only 1 of them die. Sternguard squad 2 only manage to kill a shield drone, Kanto kills 3 kroot with dorn’s arrow.
Assault: Kanto and his squad charge kroot (note if you want to know why I charged the kroot it was because of the smallness of my table and dodgy deployment of sternguard and kroot I could) sternguard kill 5 kroot in return they fail to kill any (he clams he giving me a false sense of security) but then I pull out 9 PF atks killing another 5 kroot his kroot run away in fear not surprisingly and are chased down, I consolidate in to open ground.

Tau turn 1
Moving: piranha moves the full 24” behind a building, moves his commander on top a building.
Shooting: Fire warriors kill one member of tactical squad 1, his stealth suits failed to do anything. Yay he has a just as bad shooting phase.
Assault: There Tau why am I writing this.
Kill points SM:1 Tau:0

My turn 2
Moving: Sternguard and Kanto moved across out of cover, tactical squad 1 moved closer to fire warriors.
Shooting: Sterguard squad 2 chose a different type of rounds and kill all 3 of the stealth suit. Kanto and squad run 2”s. Tactical squad 1 and 2 open fire on Fire squad 2 and kill 3 (jeez my marines can’t hit anything today)
Assault: Nothing

Taus turn 2
Moving: Commander move it a better position.
Shooting: Commander and body guard shoot Sterngaurd squad 2 and killing 2, fire warrior squad 2 killing 2 of the tactical marines, piranha shoots fusion gun and fails to wound with a 1.
Assault: Commander moves out of LOS.
Kill points SM: 2 Tau: 0

My turn 3
Moving: Sternguard moving in to the same building as the commander and up to stories, tactical squad 1 and 2 move closer to the fire warrior squad 2,sternguard squad 2 move towards the rest of the battle.
Shooting: Tactical squad 1 open fire with there flamer killing an other 2 fire warriors. Squad 2 run 4”.
Assault: Tactical squad 1 charge the fire warrior squad 2 killing the rest of them.

Tau turn’s 3
Moving: Commander and bodyguard move in to the open, piranha tanks shocks sternguard squad 2 and gets blown to bits with the combi-melta.
Shooting: The commander and fire warrior squad 2 both open fire on the unscratched tactical squad 1 and reduce them to a sergeant who holds his ground.
Assault: Commander and bodyguard hinds behinds the building Kanto and Squad.
Kill points SM: 4 Tau: 0

My turn 4
Moving: Tactical squad 1 moves and is able to see the commander. Kanto moves into assault range. Sternguard move to the top of a building.
Shooting: Tactical squad 1 opens fire on commander and rids of drones, Sternguard open fire on the commander takes a wound off both the commander and bodyguard, Kanto finish’s off the bodyguard with dorn’s arrow.
Assault: Kanto charges commander, he takes off a wound off kanto. Kanto kills him in one foul sweep of his fist.

Tau’s turn 4
Moving: Nothing
Shooting: Fire warrior squad 1 takes another wound off Kanto.
Assault: Nothing
Kill points SM: 5 Tau: 0

My turn 5
Moving: Kanto moves into assault range of fire warriors
Shooting: combine fire of Sternguard ,Tactical Squad’s 1 and dorn’s arrow down to 4.

It looked like you did really well.

All I can say is, the Tau player didn't have a very balanced army. It looked like you had a decent army for that amount of points.

Its always good to charge Fire Warrior with marines. I would have probably not assualted the Kroot. They can really hurt badly, but they can die badly as well.

I agree my friends tau army is more of a "that looks cool i'll buy that" list and kroot are a 50/50 wheather they actually do something or not.

Yah, Piranhas aren't effective in smaller games, and they aren't good with 1 in a squadron.

You know that the gun drones will disengage a piranha when it is blown up? When they do that they count as another unit, thus another KP.

A tau rule of thumb. The average tau player "should" have a railgun for every 500 points. Even if it's just a cheap broadside without any upgrades.

I don't know, fusion blasters are probably the best for that few, and you can get a good amount of suits for the price of a broadside.

Interesting report. I'm a little confused as to why you rolled deployment and setup before choosing the mission - pretty sure it's supposed to be the opposite way. Seems like it would have helped the tau player had they known the mission was annihilation, they wouldn't have setup nearly as aggressively when they're already disadvantaged in a kill points mission.

Yeah, we forgot to roll the mission so we did it afterwards and i agree with you i wouldn't have set up so aggressive if I had of known.
