This army is my pure Grey Knights army.

Tactically, i have a lot of firepower with the 35 storm bolters that i can dole out. I have optimized the potential for enemy casualties by beefing up each GK squad to 10 men, so that i can try to tactically retreat to JUST within storm bolter range and hose down the enemy with righteous fury. Once the enemy eventually closes, (if they can,) i will have hopefully thinned out their forces for an easy victory in close combat.

For anti tank, instead of the traditional Land Raiders that everyone will suggest i take, i have chosen three specialized tank-hunting Dreadnoughts armed with Psycannons from Forgeworld and missile launchers. They will follow the GK squads closely while they march within storm bolter range, and then either flog down tanks with krak missile fire or assist the GK squads in thinning enemy infantry with their 3 S6 psycannon rounds each turn.

My HQ will act much like another squad of GK's. However, with fewer storm bolter rounds per turn due to being at half strength, they will hide near other GK squads during the first few turns so that they can close with either weak enemies, or a specialized squad that is low in number. (Like devastators or other terminators.) They firing their storm bolters while they advance, once the charge has been made I let loose with Stern's Holocaust spell and force weapon and destroy the unholy.

As everything has been so carefully thought out, i don't really have room for changes to be made. However, i'd like to expand this force to a 2000 point list for Strategic Games like Take and Hold missions. For these i was thinking of inducting 3 squads of 9 scout snipers and 1 missile launching scout. This would play well with my "Thin the Opposition" strategy and give me 3 more krak missiles every round to hunt those nasty vehicles.

Any suggestions at all?

AV 14 vehicles are going to be really tough for you to deal with, your looking at getting 1 glancing hit every 3 turns currently (statistically), you might want to get something that can deal with LR and LRBT at range at 2000 points your more then likely going to see one or two across from you

Here are my thoughts. Purely the way I would field it in a list like yours.

The psycannons from FW are really cool on the Dreads but seriously if your not gonna field the LR's then you need to bump them up to TL-LC's.

Guard will currently give you fits since even psycannons only glance chimera's on a 6. Most mech armies will eat you up. How do you plan to kill the squishy goodness inside of say, devilfish, rhinos, and serpents?

Speaking of psycannons you only have 3 and those are on the dreads. Why not drop Stern to a BC w/psycannon and add another psycannon to the termi-squad? That'll give you more ranged firepower.

Just a couple of thoughts. I don't believe that LR's are the only way to field GK's but they do help a lot. Bear in mind that you are already handicapping yourself with what is already a handicapped list.

Oh, and you can't induct scout squads if you have GK's. No marine allies are allowed w/GK's in the DH army.

The no marines rule was a serious thorn in my backside. As was the sheer possibility of facing two, or even THREE Landraiders in the opposing force.

Thank you all very much for your suggestions. I'm most probably going to reduce Stern to just a Brother Captain, leaving me more points for three TW-LC's on my dreadnoughts.

As for the psycannons in the Terminator Squad, i don't see them as being particularly anymore useful than the storm bolters, as the storm bolter fires twice as much. The only real advantage the Psycannon has over the storm bolter at all is that it would give the squad a chance to fire a round off at a distance at which shrouding is still likely to be useful. However, that advantage comes at the heavy cost of mobility, a price i refuse to pay unless table top experiences show me otherwise.

If only I had the money! If you get his painted up, please post pics. I love GK armies, especially if you go a unique route with the armor colors.

Just curious, but why not go the LR route?

While it may be a contradiction, i think that Land Raiders are both horribly broken and giant point-sinks. With 14 all-around armor, two TL-LC's and other sponson weapons, i don't like to use them in battle because they are too formidable. And while that very well may be true, for the points of one LandRaider, i can field three, more vulnerable, more interesting, more fair Dreadnoughts.

Stuff Stern, get a Hero Grand Master, they're a lot better and only 4 points more. Secondly, (I don't know if this is allowed) but look up "Land Raider Ares", it's a mix between a Land Raider Redeemer/Crusader and a Vindicator. Very powerful. I am currently working on a Grey Knight one, but keeping the Hurricane bolters. Also have a twin-linked Lascannon on the Dreads, as well as the missile launcher and keep them at the back. They sort out tanks extremely easily. and think about transporting the Grey Knights. Though you may need to cut down on other units to do this within the points limit.
