Do they use the New Space marine ones? Or do they use the old ones. This is not an easy call... I figured I would ask you guys.

Does the Space Wolves codex spell out what the save is for Storm Shields? If not you use the Space Marine 3++ ones. The local SW players here use the 3++...I hope they are right!

Other than the Equipment spelled out in the Space Wolves codex (Healing Potion and Balms, Rune Staff, Mark of the Wulfen etc etc) you use the description in the SM Codex for all Items and Weapons

Proof:
Page 14: There is a breif description of how these items works on the summery page later on in this Codex but you should refer to the wargear section in codex Space Marines for a Full Description

Page 15: The rules below describe how the specialised equipment used by the Space Wolves works in the game. Any items not listed here function exactly as described in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook or Codex: Space Marines.

So the same goes for assault cannons? Even though they are listed as heavy 3 in the summary page?

If it is spelled out in army codex (BA and DA) then they cannot use the new SM equipment rules.

Ignore the summery page. Not only are they not the rules (just a summary), but they are often wrong.

You don't ignore the summery page, its just the the rules in the SM Codex Take Precedence over the ones in the SW codex (as spelled out in Codex: Space Wolves, in a Rare case of Codex telling you another Codex Trumps it)

And yes, RaW Dark Angels and Blood Angels use the rules in their codex's (the old rules). However you can always ask your opponent to let you use the new rules, since the game is pretty much opponents permission only.

There are many mistakes in the summary pages. They are written well in advance of the final rule changes and they are often not updated. Again, the summary page is not the rules, but a helpful guide to tell you what the units might have.

If you do not ignore the summary page, then can you tell me what the front armor of a hellhound is?

What I meant by not ignoring it, is that most of it is right. Where it doesn't match up with the full description the full entry takes precedence.

hence, useless and you might as well ignore it for the data found in each units section, if it doesn't give you all the answers, then why look at it? when a few pages away you can get all you need

Dont get me wrong, I dont use them tbh. Only ones I use are the ones at the back of the 40k Rulebook (but since 2 of them will be out of date come the guard codex, i dunno why i bother ;p)
