My brother and I had an idea a short while ago of making the gyrocopter a bit more fun. Here are a few ideas we had:

Mount - The Gyrocopter should be a mount option for Dwarf Engineers. Standard points and configuration.

Weapon Platform – Basically a few different weapon swaps. For example: Upgrade Steam Gun into one of the following: Harpoon Cannon (count as Bolt-thrower) for 20pts, Rotary Gun (2d6 S3 hits with Armor Piercing) for 20pts, etc. Add Bombs (count as a stone thrower hit on a unit it passes over, may not shoot this turn) for 15pts.

Crawler
– Lose Fly rule. Gain a Movement speed of 9. May purchase up to three Crawlers for one rare slot that act as a unit. Driver is armed with GW.

There were a few other wacky ideas, but I felt that these are inline with the Engineer Guild standards. Basically weapon swaping. Nothing too wild. And the crawlers have mining applications so that is useful.

What do you think?

i think they may have mods for the gyrocopter in the next version. i think it´s one of the coolest warmachines in the game. it should also be the best as it is really the most advanced technology in the warhammer world (but it probably isn´t at the moment)

Check out my website www.theonlinevault.net. It is currently for sale on Ebay so feel free to check it out

What is being said about the gyrocopter makes very good sense. It should be the very best. But then again.

This would only be practical if a Master Engineer mounted on a Gryocopter was US5. I don't think it is would be asking too much for a model that would take a hero and a rare choice and cost a minimum of 210 points.

Steam drill: a large steam powered drill fitted to the front of a track mounted gyro.

i like these ideas

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.

I think there is a lot of potential in making a flexible plastic kit for the gyrocopter. I am not a big fan of steam-punk, but I like dwarf engineer fluff in the Old World. This just makes sense and allows for more variation in the dwarf list.
