hey guys/gals (ive played with them they do exist!!)

i have played 40k for quite some time, took a break for 2 years (silly computer games..) and im getting back in.

i picked up the AoBM box my son will use the SM for fun, but i play the ORKS!!

after reading around the forums for a couple days i have come up with some ideas for a list, trying to be balanced here.
its as follows:

HQ:
Warboss: PK squig cybork bosspole eavy armor 120
BigMek: KFF cybork 95

Elites:
15 Lootas 225

Troops:
10 Nobz- 3 big chops 3 PKs bosspole WAAAAGH!! banner
eavy armor
Painboy all w/ cybork 535

20 slugga boys- 2 rokkit
nob w/ PK bosspole 180

30 shoota boys- 2 big shoota
nob w/ PK bosspole 230

18 gretchin
runtherd 64

Fast attack:
3 Deffkopptas- 3 twin rokkit 135

Heavy support:
3 Killa Kans- 3 grotzokkas 135

Battlewagon- deffrolla armor plates kannon 130

if my math is right (its not always ) that should be right at 1849

thats the size my local store plays games with

please any criticism comments or insight would be GREATLY appreciated

thanks in advance

when it comes to orks, things only count in large amounts...

3 deffkoptas are not going to do that much without any friends or fast support...

Nobz are a little sub optimal because of the amount of points that they tie up however they are quite resilient in close combat

add an extra gretchin for the optimal number...

30 boyz with shootas is a little unwieldy as you will leave the entire unit exposed to fire in order to use all 30 boyz. 20 is the best number for foot sloggin shoota-boyz.

A trukk is always good as it allows for some quick assaults.

I am sure other people will follow with comments

thanks for the reply i know that gretchin squad number seems odd but i had to cut one out to drop below 1850..

i did some thinking about it and i dont know if im liking that massive NOBZ unit i know its uber and very powerful but its soo many points

i dont know if id be better off with more kans and say a kommando/snikrott unit or do a burna/wagon unit hmm soo many delicious choices...

keep it coming guys

If you want to use kanz, here is a usable and similar list that has proven effective:
1850 points
HQ
Big Mek cybork, kff
Big Mek kff

Elites
13 Lootas
12 Lootas

Troops
Deff Dred with 4 X DCCW
Deff Dred with 4 X DCCW
20 Shoota boyz, 2 bs, nob pk bp
20 Shoota boyz, 2 bs, nob pk bp
20 Shoota boyz, 2 bs, nob pk bp
20 Shoota boyz, 2 bs, nob pk bp

Heavy Support
3 Killa Kanz, 3 X grotzooka
3 Killa Kanz, 3 X grotzooka
3 Killa Kanz, 3 X grotzooka

Run 6 kanz, a dredd, and 20 shoota boyz as up the middle as you can. I honestly use the 20 boyz in front of the kanz as a shooting screen. I know they will die, but as long as the dredd and a couple of kanz make it in I am happy. The boyz get a 5+ from the mek and now your kanz and dredd get a 4+. Flank with 3 kanz, a dredd, and 60 boyz, 20 in front as a screen, 40 behind for krumpin'. They should hit the turn after the first mob. The lootas will kill their rhinos right proper, and the dredds and kanz should finish their harder armor.

thanks for the reply inigo,

that list does look powerful and i like the theme but i want to try to make a balanced army, not a gimmick and not insult your list or time it just seems gimmicky.

i like alot of things in the ork book and want to try to get as much of the character of the orks in the list that i can

any other ideas?

read the Ork Tactica, It will help you with your choices...

Snikrot: He is awesome on paper, I have not used him yet but according to math hammer 6 S6 that hit on a 3+ with a re-roll misses is quite good and will wound practically everything. I would put him in a unit of Kommandos and kill things... eventually you will lose the kommandos and Snikrot but he will make back his points probably after the first charge and the amount of Orks that will be saved when the opposing player has to devote a round of shooting to kill the squad because even a unit of 5 kommandos and Snikrot will take out 10 Sm on a charge and force them to roll -2 to -3 to their leadership or risk being cut down in an advance... There is a reason He is the Boss.

It's old so don't take everything it says to heart. Like for example calling Nob Bikers semi-competitive

Anyway, you want those nobs to move fast. Problem is, if you put them in a trukk, it's the first thing the opponent will blow up. So it's kinda between bikes and battlewagon. But looking at your list I think you can discard em and get more of the other stuff you already have: more lootas (2x13 for example), more shootas (another unit), more kans (maybe another 3).

Yes, 5 torsos/legs, 4/4/1 loota/burna/mek heads, 4 deffguns, 4 burnas, 1 kustom mega blasta, 1 big shoota (no left arm), 1 rokkit launcha (no left arm). Ask around if they'd let you play the mek as another loota.
