I tried doing a search but found nothing.

So I am considering starting a mech DKOK guard army when the new book comes out.

But I want to do it up real nice, and I know that the military modeling hobby has thousands of aftermarket brass kits and resin kits for making their models look super real and detailed.

I was wondering if anyone here has tried it or knows of any links where anyone has done it with 40k models.

I haven't used any aftermarket brass kits, but I did buy some aftermarket resin jerry cans from my local model shop for my IG tanks. I checked out their brass stuff and didn't really see a whole lot I could use - but then, that could just be that they have a limited selection. That said, I've definitely eyed their Tamiya WWII stowage kits to add some extra boxes and stuff, but it's a little expensive at $10 a kit. Hell, I can convert boxes and sandbags for that price.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

You might want to look at Aber for the photoetch. They have a wide range of kits specific stuff, along with more generic buckles/latches/straps/etc.

You might also want to check out some of the armor modeling forums out there:

This should give you some great ideas as to what can be done and how to do it.

I used some brass diamond plating on a few tanks, as extra armor for an IW pred, and as floor plating on a Baneblade by the access ladder. Don't remember the brand, I picked them up at a local model shop.

I have pics of the pred, but not the Baneblade. Here's the pred with the brass diamond plate as extra armor:

Thanks AJ.

I am a member of armorama so I'm familiar with most of what is out there.

I was looking for an easy way out. I.E. looking to see if someone has done it before with instructions..etc.etc.

I have found a few links but they have been few and far between.

Here is one of the better ones I have found.

It looks like I will have to be the "ground breaker" for this and start up a blog. One of the problems I have noticed about the Chimera is the apparant lack of engine compartment. I was hoping it would be "easy" to add engine grilling details.

I guess the good news is, once I complete 1 chimera it will make the rest of them easier to convert, since I'll have the experience.

Not a problem and thanks for the link. Will definitely keep my eyes peeled for the blog...
