I’ve being thing of doing a small elite army recently something that didn’t require an army case and was looking at Deathwing, then the idea came up for something much tougher and faster, a Nob biker army...

It’s a simple setup. Deathwing can easily be brought down by numbers but these guys have so much to offer: 4 different types of saving rolls, toughness 5, 2 wounds, scoring unit, WS 5, speed and shooting range.

But I ain’t stupid I do realize that there are armies out there that will tear it apart and in multiple objective missions they’re screwed which why I decided to throw 2 small grot squads in there to sit on objectives near my deployment and hide with it for the whole game why my bikers pay a visit to the ones on my opponents side of the board.

I believe it would be a fun and unique army to play and I’ve got an idea to convert the bikers like armored knights and using the goblins from Warhammer fantasy and paint each half of the army a different color, black knights on one side white on the other like rivals with tallies on their banners.

What do you think it would be like to play?
Feel free to suggest on how to improve the list but without improving the model count.

I did consider such a list back when the Ork Codex was re-released as I had finished a grot themed guard army and wasn’t up for painting that many greenskins again. However I was unsure about how the army would perform and thought it would do badly, until today when I saw someone at the GT finals using an army of 2 units of 10 Nob bikers lead by warbosses by the end of the day he was ranked in the top 5 beating both a chaos lash and nidzilla army in the 2nd and 3rd round, I look forward to seeing the overall results tomorrow evening. Seeing how well it did made me want to rethink my previous decision to drop such an army idea.

Also if anyone thinks I'm just copying this guy I'll gladly give you a link to my army list post posted in 2006 on another forum.

I'm not sure, but I think Fifty's point was that nob bikers is generally seen as one of the most power-gamey armies out there (up there w/double lash PM-zerker spam), and you are suggesting it here as if it is a perfectly ordinary army you want to play for fun.

However, that aside, I like the idea that you have for your army, and it seems to me that you're playing it for fun, not to lay the smack down on every hapless stranger you meet. So good luck and have fun converting.

It doesn't seems like he's going for the complex unit trick, so... change that kombi-rokkits for kombi-skorchas.

Its a bit too extreme.
As you said this army can get into trouble in multi-objective games.
I'd replace one Nob Biker mob and the Grotz simply by Boyz.

I choose that based of a neat little trick I've been told about, by giving the squad a large variety of weapons there are more types of models to divide the wounds with, thus making the unit last a little longer.

If you're playing nob bikers then you may as well do the multiple wound trick. Attack squigs on the warbosses couldnt hurt. You may also want to add a few more bodies to the grot mobs so they can weather shooting a little better.

You have to bear in mind that lots of people are running around with nob-biker lists at the moment so nobody will like that the list itself is anything different (which it isnt really). Your conversion idea sounds fantastic though, make sure you post pictures when you're done with it.

Problem is to afford all of those I'd have to drop 2 more nob bikers, besides the grots should be safe from everything that isn't outflanking or deep striking and it's not like the nobs lack the mobilty to turn around and assist them.

Hows this list, I split up the 2 Nobs squads into to 4 units to give the army a bit more mobility rather than running the risk of the 2 units being held up in combat, the elites will get into the thick of it while the troops provide support before going for the objectives. Or should I stick with the larger squads with the grot support?

I thik the whole idea behind Biker Nobz (Hurrr!) is that you have 2 massive, blindingly fast scoring units. Elite Nob Bikers are not worth the boatload of points you put into them. You need a unit able to survive 90% of the shooting out there, kill 90% of the units out there in close combat, and still score.

i would drop 1 unit from elite, take wazdakka in the army and field 1 or 2 small biker units as troops.

that way you can bulk out the army a little and keep it cost effective.
also you gain another 1-2 scoring units that are mobile and can fight if needed.

Well I've made a few changes to the list keeping it at 750pts as it will be doubled to make the full 1500pt army. This is for fluff and modeling reasons as a I mentioned in the first post.

513 - 8 Nob Bikerz: 2 Power Klawz, 1 Big Choppa, 1 Kustom-Skotcha, Boss Pole, Waaagh Banner, 2 Choppas and Painboy all have cybork bodies and stikkbombs.

This has left me 103pts to spend on a support unit anymore and I risk weakening the biker squad. I'm thinking of taking one of these 3...

1X20 Grots (objective grabbing) & An Attack Squig for the Warboss,
1X10 Grots (objective grabbing) & 3 Kannons for support,
Or some boys on foot?

But I am open for other suggestions?
