Subject: What should be the bread and butter of a Khorne Daemon army?

Been Around the Block

I've been getting some mixed responses from the players at my local shop, the two arguments are as follows; One, the back bone of my army should be bloodletters, take 12-15 man units with full command. Two, point for point Flesh Hounds are going to be the best unit in the list, take three ten man units of bloodletters with no command, and 3-4 five man units of hounds.
Which is the better idea?

Why not both? You're clearly talking about 2000 points, as you refer to three ten-man units, and a 2000 point army can contain three 14-man blocks of Bloodletter, all with full command and led by a Herald on Juggernaut, plus three 6-man Flesh Hounds units for a shade under 2000.
Or you can have three fifteen-man units and five-strong Flesh Hounds with plenty of points left over for Lords or Heroes.

backbone of a khornate daemon army? that would be bloodcrushers.
ive tried to use the hounds, but just find the letters alot better, hounds tend to die pretty quickly and have a limited use in what they can and cant attack, as alot of things will kill them easily.
letters work well in groups of around 12, anything smaller and they die too quickly, anything larger and they tend to stand out and attract alot of fire each turn.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor. |

In an all khorne army, flesh hounds are good at getting into the enemy in a hurry and tying up their shooting. They're not so good at actually winning combats against decent targets (MEQs or better).
Bloodletters put out a lot of pain, but they're also expected to hold objectives. It is really hard to use your power weapons on your opponent when you're sitting on the magic treasure in your own deployment zone.
Bloodcrushers are so good, it's almost unfair. A unit of eight can take fire from almost an entire army and end up still in fighting condition.

ooops, sorry about that. That's what I get for using the 'Recent Threads' instead of actually visiting forums. My apologies.

Bloodthirster with bloodletters (2 units of 15) and flesh hounds....
Blood thirster with bloodletters...
Whatever you take the thing that will win games for you is a decked out blood thirster, he is about 200 points undercosted.

Lets get a few things onto the table very quickly here: Bloodcrushers blow. They really, really, really suck compared to Flesh Hounds. Flesh Hounds are awesome, and are one of the best units in the book. The real stars of any Khorne based army will be: Bloodthirster with Rerolls (Immortal Fury), all other gifts apply as needed after that. Khorne Heralds on Juggernaut's with Armor of Khorne (other gifts apply as needed, one to be the BSB) Flesh Hounds (as many as you can take). Everything else in the list will revolve around helping those three things do the heavy lifting. I'd recommend making some Khorne looking Furies to use in addition to the other stuff you've got. And if you really do go pure Khorne (no mages) then take the Banner of Sundering on your BSB.
