With the new Guard Codex on the way, and Guardsmen supposidly being 4 points, how many infantry plattons will ya'll take.

Not played guard much myself, but considering a full platoon of 5 squads and a command squad wont be more than 300 points for 55 bodies, I can easily see myself taking 4 at 1500 points and using the spares to stick in a few lascannons.

I would like to take about 4 platoons, but I will probably wait until the codex before I am sure.

Seriously, we don't know anything (for certain) about how/if they are adjusting kill points for Guard. Until we know that, it won't be known whether more but smaler platoons are going to be any different than larger platoons.

I don't think I'll have more than two. Maybe a conscript platoon, assuming they don't change the composition and make them more than the simple tar pits that they are now.

Also, if they don't fix the platoon KP issue (10 KP minimum per "standard" army! FFS!)

Yeah the KP thing is a Bit gak. if it really is 1 KP a Squad I may just say feth it and go for VALKARIES with Stormies

Stormies + Valk = 2 KP

edit: granted, they are much killier than other things the guard drops 2 KP's for.

1 Platoon = 3 KP..... at minimum strength mind you...

Platoons consist of 1 IC and 3 squads, ergo, 4 KP

I'll probably be fielding 3 platoons. If the rumors are true then one w/3 squads and 2 assault squads and platoon hq all in chimera's. one w/2 squads, 2 heavy squads, and an platoon hq. and one w/2 squads, 2 heavy, and a platoon hq. The rest will go to battle tanks

Most likely 2, but it really depends on how the "orders" work (perhaps I want more officers...) and if they address KP.

But most likely you will want to take the minimum of platoons and take plenty of other units as well. But even with 2 platoons, you can still field a good number of bodies.

I'm thinking 2 fully manned platoons...
