So with apocalypse and all I have found the Tau lacking severely in fire power. /cry.

So I was curious; what Imperial Guard stuff can the Tau use for the Human Auxiliaries?

Well, I'm not sure this belongs in the M&P thread...

There're pretty much no restrictions in apocalypse. You can just run IG and Tau together and say they're auxiliaries.

What about normal?

I think they can only use the troops in a normal game but I could be wrong. I think GW made an article on auxiliaries for tau just need to find it.

Far as I remember, the Gue'vasa units were just standard Guard squads, with Carapace Armor and Pulse Rifles/Carbines as the special weapon choices.

They don't have Auxiliaries anymore :/ The Article has been removed from GW's site.

If you at some of the written history of the Gue'vesa in some of the GW articles, it is said that sometimes Gue'vesa were given simply pulse rifles/carbines, while some Gue'vesa worlds were fully equipped to produce IG weapons. That being said, for my Troop choice, I have my Guard Infantry Platoon outfitted with Lasguns, a Hellhound, and several Lascannon squads, with some Tau modifications (Targetting Array for the Hellhound, Markerlights for Vet. Sergeants, etc.).

I have pictures of said Gue'vesa in my gallery.

Well, I'm hoping to be able to use some Leman Russes (or god forbid a Baneblade). Or are we talking that they just take humans and give them Tau equipment?

Humans with Tau equipment, for the most part. Or in the case of Taros, they had alot of old Imperial emplaced weaponry, some Chimeras, lighter equipment. The kind of stuff you'd find for PDF, not full-fledged Guard.

Tau auxillary used to have some very limited rules that required opponents permission. Now they have no rules, the only way you could use them is in apocalypse.

Well lets see, if I used Humans with Pulse rifles, not only would they get the strength of the weapon, but their WS would be at least 3, and their BS would be 4. The firewarrior BS is only 3 because the Tau have poor vision.

As long as the people you play with do not mind you can have human troops fighting with the Tau in a normal game. Both game stores near me encourage new models and rules, so long as they are within reason. As for the Lore, it is obvious the Tau have human worlds within there domains so I see no reason for you not to make human troops for your tau to use, and as for weapons I see no reason you cannot arm the human troops with Tau infantry weapons. I look forward to seeing your work.

The Tau Human auxiliary rules were very limited. They were guardsmen with lasguns. You could give a couple of them pulse rifles or pulse carbines. Nothing to write home about, but they were an interesting third troops choice if you wanted to do it. That was it, no vehicles, nothing else interesting.

Luckily for Apoc, it doesn't matter. You can ally Tau with IG with no problems. Just take what you want and what you feel is fluffy. You don't need to give the IG anything special to count them as your Human auxiliaries in the army. Or you can take a squad of fire warriors and model them up as guardsmen in carapace with pulse rifles and carbines - sure they'll be WS2 just like regular firewarriors but you can explain that away as due to the bulk/awkwardness of the weapons or the fact that they train in the tau way now.

Or if you really wanted you could make up your own rules to add tau technology to some IG vehicles. Personally I don't really bother, it feels more realistic to just field a few squads of IG with pulse rifles as just regular firewarriors or pull out the gue'vesa rules for a couple squads, and make the rest vanilla IG. It is, after all, Apoc.

Lambadomy is mostly right for the OLD 3rd. Ed. rules. I still have a copy. 12 was the max squad size. 2 pulse rifles or carbines. Squad leader (Gue vasa ui) can have a marker light. The whole squad can have EMP grenades. Thats it, everyone else has lasguns & IG stats (armor save & all). IIRC. So if you can use Storm Troopers or something better go for it.

I agree with the traitor rule, but not the amount of pulse rifles. It said in the rules above that the Tau gave them a manufacturing ability to 'barley' produce Lasguns and farming tools. I believe that they should all be armed with Pulse rifles or an upgraded version of the lasgun like the kroot rifle.

I'm thinking just for cool modelling purposes, it'd be great to make a firewarrior squad out of a mix of cadian and firewarrior pieces. Play them as firewarriors, but they'll look great on the battlefield as gue'vesa

I’m putting together a squad of 12 (11) + a Gue’vesa’ui. The owner of our local store had a Tau army and used Human Auxiliaries of which he has 24.
Personally I liked the looks of them on the table and there a little hardier then Kroot.
Weapons choices suck but thems the rules.
Also there still listed in Army Builder…….. so there....

The old rules were 10 man squads, flak armor and lasguns. Sergeants could have a pulse carbine
* I stand corrected I see that the rules were already posted
