Having seen some of the rumours about the new IG codex (and being an Eldar player, ); especially with the likelihood of massive armoured companies. I reckon it might be about time to reconsider ES as a viable power. Even with the scatter, with that many tanks running around it's bound to hit something allowing more rear armour shots and maybe a lucky kill every now and again. Good idea?

It's simply never going to be as good as Guide or Fortune, unfortunately. The opportunity cost of using it is too high.

If you've got Eldrad on the table, have already gotten 2 Fortunes off and have nothing else to Guide or Mind War, go for it.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

I reckon that both Guide and Mindwar have decreased in power since the advent of 5e. ES, to me anyways, is more practical because large tanks are less likely to have a cover save ('cover save' being the one phrase we can use to define 5e now) and, hence, an ability to get rear/side armour shots at any cost is much more effective than it was in 4e. Not to mention the annoyance it can give to an opponent to randomly spin his expensive units about!

I have never actually used Eldritch Storm since 5th came out

The Eldar, more than any other army, should not only look at the output of each unit individually, but the synergy of multiple units together and their role in the force as a whole. - Fable

This power could work well with a farser + fire dragons combo.

Although, would you have to resolve the shooting simultaneously so that spinny-effect will happen after all the fusion gun shots are resolved? It would also be useful against hordes, when in a fire-dragon squad. Fortune + guide + ES + stones. . . . . could work.

Okay okay.. how about this? You can spend 3pts on a singing spear (str 9) oor you can spend 20pts on eldritch storm. 6" more range, 2D6+3 = (3-3.5x2 + 3) str9-10 thatll probably hit more often, given the scatter rules, BS5 and the large blast...

Yes yes.. with a spear you can fortune & guide your sqaud then go onto to spear somthing. Eldritch storm steals one of your daily does of psychy goodness and thats where it falls down.

Okay..

Farseer + fortune, Es, stones
Wave serpent + star engines, spirit stones, TL-EML, Shuriken cannon
10 guardains + shuriken cannon.

Roaming wave serpent blasting out lots of firepower + the far-seers eldritch storm while fortuning the vehicle for any cover-save it may recive (from terrain or going fast)

Too be fair.. it's all worked out quite well!

Personally I like eldritch storm plus doom. Nothing makes an ork player more sad than 8-9 wounds coming from one psychic power.
