If I have a crisis suit with twin linked weapons and a multitracker, can I fire my twin linked weapon twice? Do I have to take the multi tracker? -could I just take the twin linked guns to keep the points down?

Also since a broadside MUST take a battlesuit support system, can someone confirm that a broadside will always cost more than 70 points?

Also if my weapon is rapid fire, does than mean I get the rapid fire rate x 2 with the multi tacker, or just 1 extra shot?

A multi-tracker allows you to fire two weapon systems, not the same system twice.

Please read the 'Equipment' heading in the Crisis Battlesuit Team's entry on page 34 of Codex Tau Empire.

Well, since the Broadside cost 70 points by itself and it must take a support system it seems that the answer is clearly that it will cost over 70 points.

The multi-tracker does not change how the weapon fires or it's profile.

Well, he is right you know. You original Post kind of gave the hint you didn't read the codex all that well.

I definitely agree that the OP doesn't have a firm grasp at the rules or the Codex, but he might be new to the game and I think we should encourage the new players with help and advice in a friendly manner. Its possible to be nice to poorly researched questions, and if it becomes tedious then maybe just let someone else answer those types of questions for a little while until you can stomach it again.

And Troy, Twin-linked weapons don't let you fire any more shots at all, you don't get 'bonus bullets' or anything like that. What you do get from twin-linked is the ability to reroll failed 'to hit' dice.

As far as multitrackers, if you have a Plasma Rifle and a Missile Pod on a Crisis Suit, then you can only fire one each turn. If you have a multitracker you can fire both each turn, but not the Plasma Rifle twice. Multitrackers just makes the regular restriction for infantry, that you can only fire one weapon per turn, into an amended rule, you can fire up to 2 weapons per turn.

By the way, Ghaz is right on everything in his post, and usually about everything in all of his posts, so he's a pretty good resource to use, I would just reread all of the material concerned so you have a good grasp on the basic rules, after all, what good is playing a game if you don't know all the rules.

I will confess to ignorance (the game has moved on since 2nd edition!), but stand by my earlier comment.

If you find that response impolite or harsh, you are really going to "enjoy" spending time on Dakka. Grow thicker skin.

I meet enough tiresome, tactless people in real life Steelmage, I can't be arsed having to bother with that on here. If people don't do civility then I will stop using the forum, and ask someone at local GW instead - I spend too much 'work' time on here anyway!

But thanks for the words of encouragement ubersnaks. Win ratio of 25% from 8 games says it all really!

Most of Dakka is tiresome and tactless, however on rules questions it's often correct, or creates debate that explores every relevant point exhaustively and you can decide from the collected opinions.

It's not a friendly forum, and probably won't ever be, but it's going to be far more reliable than your local GW store, where often we've encountered funny rules interpretations, or rulings that were just outright false.

I disagree. While there are some posters that tend to be a bit more....terse, then others. I find the vast majority fairly polite. Or at least justified if they are occasionally gruff.

I entirely agree with coredump. There are only a few who answer questions with 100 grit coarse sandpaper...

The rest use broken glass :p

btw I've recently been converted to using the Advanced Stabiliztion System, its truly breathed new life into my broadsides.

My local GW shop offers some pretty useless advice. Well, depending on your interpretation of useless, or which side of the counter you are on... Advice usually follows this adlib:

"Yeah, that does (something), but I usually counter it with (insert set of models that I don't remember you purchasing). Would you like to buy some?"

That is usually followed up by "I mean even if you never field it, it's fun to have them around and paint them. They look awesome."

I would highly suggest sticking with a forum that doesn't directly siphon money out of your wallet with their answers, be it Dakka or some other tiresome and/or tactless source.

And here I was thinking that this is a nice sentiment to express at any time. I didn't even realize that Ghaz's post might be construed as impolite at all. I mean really, who would ever say "Nah, I don't want my day to get better, it'd really piss me off."

To the OP:

As has been said already, sometimes we DO come across as gruff, and hostile, but if you just ignore the asshattery (I've been guilty of it myself quite a few times) you will, more often than not, find the truth about your questions. Most often you'll find that the truth is that GW can't be bothered to write a decent ruleset, and that any rule that is clear and concise is simply an accident.

The idea is that it takes extra effort and time to write properly, and they’d rather save the time. If you can still be understood, what’s the harm? While most of the time a sloppy post CAN be understood, the use of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling is generally seen as respectable and desirable on most forums. It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. By making this effort, you can often elicit more positive responses from the community, and instantly mark yourself as someone worth talking to.

Yup I can't deny that Dakka is a great resource. Met all kinds of excellent local players on here.
